Sherman Hill - Overland Limited
Cheyenne to Laramie
Travels over the original route with 1.5% Grades. A little departure
from the normal run. There is shortage of Helper power, so you will have
to make the run with just the road engine. Therefore it is not likely
that you will be able to maintain line speed upgrade. Additionally the
train ahead of yours is experiencing occasional problems, so pay strict
attention to the signals as you may very well be 'chasing' yellows with
possibly a couple reds. Other than that... Have a good day.
The era being the transition from Steam to Diesel of the late 1940s thru
mid 1950s. To accomplish this requires a large amount of third party
payware and freeware as there is little or no default North American
rolling stock for this timeframe available at the present.

For those who have installed bpetit's Challenger Performance
Upgrade... You will need to be more villigent. As now you will easily be able
to maintain line speed. The slow freight ahead of you is making frequent
stops causing your train to encounter many yellow and a few red signals.
Remember that on most U.S. railroads, yellow/amber aspects means slow to
no more than 30 mph being prepared to stop at the next signal. Running
at speeds greater than 30MPH on encountering a yellow will ensure you
encountering a red at the next signal.

Hence this scenario requires a large amount of payware and freeware listed
below. Using Mike Simpson's excellent RW_TOOLS Utility you can swap
consists' items easily as some of the assets I have used are not
currently available.
There are some minor discrepancies since the route is modeled in the UP
Diesel era. Some structures and infrastructure are not appropriate for
the timeframe of this scenario, however, it is sufficiently realistic in
the operational aspects and most visual/scenic aspects.
