3ds Max Animation Tutorial
by Mike (mikeadams2k) Adams
This is a tutorial showing how to animate steam locomotive valve gear, using 3ds Max, for the purpose of exporting it to Railworks. It includes example .max files to be used in the tutorial. It also include additions examples of other types of valve gear. One example uses an inclined cylinder or piston.
An included file, Source.zip, contains the necessary folders and files to get the tutorial valve gear into Railworks. Unzip the file, drop the Source folder into Railworks and look for the folder Max. Open the blueprint - Test and export. All of the included examples may
be exported to Railworks by exporting them and overwriting the Test.igs and Test.ia files. Note: all of the .max files are animated with the exception of Tutorial_valve_gear.max
I'd like to acknowledge my good friend, Johan Pretorius of Durban, South Afica. It was a request from him, that brought this tutorial about.
