I created this simple pictorial pack to help me in planning scenarios using Dick Cowan's BritKits Steel Works Set #1. Hope it helps you also.
Quench car (for use in the coke plant only) Takes coke from the coke ovens to the quenching plant and then to the cinter plant.
Slag cars for taking the waste molten slag from the furnaces to the dumping area
Hot metal car for moving molten metal from the furnace to other facilities
Ladle car for moving molten metal from the furnace to other facilities
Ingot cars are used to form ingots of metal and move them to the rolling mills
Flat cars with loads for internal delivery Empty, coil load, slab load, bar load
40ft Gondolas for external delivery of steel coils and inbound delivery of scrap metal Santa Fe, Union Pacific, Bangor and Aroostook, Bessemer and Lake Erie and In house (No road markings)
Coke hoppers. Old hoppers with extended sides.
