This route's setting is centered on Decatur, Al where the NS and CSX railroads share a track that crosses the Tennessee river. From the Junction west it goes about 20 miles to Mussel Shoals where there is some switching opportunities. From the Junction east it run about 25 miles to Huntsville, Al where there is some switching to be done, mostly at the airport. Around Decatur there is an abundants of industries that needs to be serviced. There is a major yard on the NS track and another major yard on the CSX side.
If you want to do switching then there is plenty of opportunities, especially along the Tenn. river. And if you like long haul then you can run between the cities. It is a single track with long siding that runs through the country side with small towns and communities along the way. The route try’s to represent the southern part of the country in spring/summer. So open the windows on the cab for a little air to keep you cool or turn the AC down a notch or two.
This route is a joint effort with pikehkr who laid the tracks, water, and did the signaling. I did the placing of plants and buildings.
