My route will not load

Unread postby thebigroyboyski » Tue Sep 25, 2012 5:37 pm

About a week before the update my route i'd been working on the past few months decided it didn't want to work anymore. I keep getting SBHH. I decided to leave it until after the update incase it was just RSC moving things about but still no joy.
So far i've tried everything mentioned in rhovaks post about the problem he was having.
I've tried,
Clearing the cache, Loading a back up (tried various dates, no luck), Cloning the route, Moving the scenarios and putting them back one at a time, Deleting the initial save files and current save files, Removing any scenery files upto a certain date.
Any help would be appreciated as i've already lost one route and i don't want to give this one up too.
Edit; just to add i've checked the route with rwtools and there is no missing files.
Thanks
Roy

How about packing it up and letting somone else install it. By process of elimination you could tell if it is on your end or something drastically wrong with the route. If I could load it and you can't. Then something may be wrong on your end that you don't realize yet. If I can't get it to load i could take a peek and see if I find anything a miss that you might be glancing over because your nauseated that it doesn't work right now. If you know how to FTP I can give you an address and username and place to send it so I could look it over if you want me to.

Try packaging the route with RW-tools and re-installing. I did that with my route and it worked.

Maybe just lucky

Thanks Bob and Harold. I'll try packaging it up this morning and see how I get on.
If I have no luck I'll give you a shout Bob and we'll see what we can come up with.

Thanks

I've packaged up the route and tried reloading it. No joy, still getting a SBHH. I've never packaged a route before but followed the instructions so i hope i've done that part correctly.
Whats FTP? That would be brilliant if you could check the route for me. I'm almost certain it will be something stupid and obvious **!!bang!!**

FTP = Files Transfer Protocol. In essence you get a program like Windows Explorer, except the left side is your hard drive and the right side window in my hard drive. You drag and drop fioles from you window to mine and it uploads to me or whoever else you have access to.

Internet Explorer can also do it and probably other browsers. I use something called WS FTP Pro. Thre are freeware ones of there like CUTE FTP and others.

If I'm not mistaken, as of XP, you can no longer use Internet Explorer for FTP, but you can use Windows Explorer. although it's a bit tricky to do.

FileZilla is another good free FTP utility. I use one called FlashFXP, but it's not free. It runs about $30.00 USD.

I use IE for FTP in WIN 7. If you go in the Internet Options you can set it to do passive FTP. Then instead of www.whatever you type ftp.whatever with username and password. I prefer a regular FTP program though.

I can second FileZilla. I've been using it for years.

Ah! I didn't know that. Back in the old Win 98 days, it was a simple matter of just typing in the FTP address in IE. I didn't realize there was an option to change in later OS's.
I know you can use Windows Explorer in later OS's. At least with XP. Not sure about Win 7.

I do agree though, a regular FTP program is a lot better.

I've got it back *!greengrin!*
Feels a bit odd looking at it again after I'd given up all hope with it.
Basically I'd started getting SBHH all the time whenever I tried to do any editing with anything. It got to the point I could start a new line, lay 500yds of track on flat empty ground, save it and it wouldn't reload without SBHH kicking me off.
I gave up and renamed my railworks folder and downloaded a fresh install of the game. I thought I'd try loading my packaged route and it worked. All my textures are missing and half my track is invisible but highlights but I'll work that lot out.

Sounds like the time when almost all my routes would crash when I switch them to Winter. Even my 2bit test route. Donner Pass worked, HSC worked... It wasn't until I verified the files that it went away. The common denominator was Kuju weather, the other two routes had their own copies. I now have copies of those files in my route folder.

The moral of the story is: Alias if you must. Have your own copy to be safe.
