Curvature?

Unread postby trainmaster55 » Mon May 17, 2010 9:29 pm

Hey guys! Recently I have tried to start building a route in railworks. I first went to lay my track, I started with a straight, but then tried to do a curve, and it wouldn't let me. Every time I try to make a curved section of track, it just won't let me. Any suggestions? Is there a button I might have accidentally pushed? Thanks!

Alex, all I'm aware of is you just pull the track to the left or right and you'll get your curve. I don't think there's anything that limits if the track is curved or not. - Rich

Yea, that's what I thought to! It's pretty weird.

A couple of quick suggestions;

When laying tracks, from the bottom-left fly-out menu, Un-Check the "Easements" option.
Also, for more "flexible" type of track allowing for tighter turns, you can temporarily switch the track-type over to "Yard" (from the right-side fly-out menu), as a track such as Main doesn't like to make "tight-turns".

Hope that helps.
Cheers! :D

Good point Don, I never use easements, didn't even think of it. Maybe that's the trouble.

The only thing about using switching between yard tracks and mainline is your speed limit will change with it too. You'll want to go over that same track with the selection tool and set your speed to match the upper and lower speed limits of the rest of the mainline track.

We do really need to build a flow chart reminding us of all the things we got to check for when building a route, eh? *!rolleyes!*

Agree also...good learning points there Don. !!*ok*!! ....scribbled down in my long list of remembers.
Query here.. *!question!* Would creating your own track rule eliminate some of these problems.

Time to learn and play around with a track rule.
