Harry

If you do one Harry you're definitely going to want a decal for the L&N on the side of the body. I have a decal all made up so holler and I'll send you the decal and the bin for the engine.

RudiJaeger wrote:The SP&S also had sixteen of the upcoming C425's. I've not tried to contact the author; so I'm not sure if they have any plans for SP&S versions in the future, but the SP&S was definitely noted for it's Alco power.

After waiting all these years for a C424/5, I was anxious to do some SP&S and BN repaints, but right now I just don't have the time; that, and some of the texture files look like a 5,000 piece jig-saw puzzle. A monotone repaint is feasible, but color mapping all those nuts and bolts to place them correctly on a two-tone paint-job will take some time; and that's not including anything that might be double-mapped or shared between two different color zones. I'm certainly not complaining though; kudos to the author for putting that much detail into the model.

So Buzz, if you're going to do some multi-color jobs, I wish you all the best. It will be a pioneering effort, so I hope you'll keep us posted about all the little painting issues you run into along the way. Cheers! !*salute*!

I won't say this is impossible but it's improbable that anyone will figure out how to do a multi-color anything with this model. If it's a solid color it's doable but as soon as you try to do bits and pieces it just becomes unmanageable. There are just bits and pieces all over the place.

Personally if I wanted to see a repaint, I'd like to see Indiana Hi-Rail's sole C424 #4255.

That's a C425.

IHRC never had any C424, just C425 and C420.

The radiator sections are the most distinct difference between the c424 and c425. The radiator flaring on the c424 is "tapered". C424 above and c425 below. The radiator shape on the c425 was carried on through the rest of the century series afterward.
