VNHHR GP9 Engine Sounds

Unread postby miata54 » Sat Mar 24, 2018 8:53 am

Would somebody who has this route run any scenario that uses the GP9 and confirm/deny that they can hear the GP9's engine sounds in the external camera mode. I have no engine sounds and can't figure out why not. I have horn, bell, sander etc., but no diesel engine sounds. I hear the sounds of rolling stock when moving by in the external mode, but no engine sound. When I go to the internal Cab camera, I get the engine sound as well as all other sounds. Switch back to external mode, and no engine sounds. When I run any other route that uses a GP9, I hear the engine sounds.

I have uninstalled/deleted and re-installed the VNHRR route several times but the problem still remains.Would appreciate any insight into this.

Thanks

I just loaded it up and I have sound outside and inside with the VNHHR GP9. The sounds are aliased to the F7 in the Kuju Audio\F7 folder. Do you have that?

I've had this happen after running a scenario for a while. I don't know if there was a fix for it but here's an old thread about it.

OK, I checked the F7 folder in Kuju and indeed it was not complete. Only the bell & horn files were present which explains why I was hearing only those sounds. So I copied/pasted the entire Kuju F7 audio folder from my backup, to the Kuju F7 folder. The order now looked like this in Kuju: The F7 folder now had the Cab folder (with 57 files) and below the Cab folder were 71 files, and an Engine sub folder with 24 files. Fired up RW and still no engine sounds. I also noticed that in the VNHRR folder, there was no folder at all for an F7 or a GP9. Would this be needed to alias the sound from the F7 to the GP9? The path I found was: Railworks/Assets/VNHRR/Springfield/Audio/RailVehicles/Diesel/Alco_S2. No F7 or GP9 located at all in the Diesel folder. What does your file structure look like?

Thanks

Need help Buzz. Where do I find "shared"?

Just realized you meant the Shared Folder. Found it. Am I looking for the F7 proxyxml file?

In the process of trying to determine what files were missing in my VNHRR folder, Buzz suggested looking at the
"Shared" folder found here: Railworks/RailsimulatorUS/Kuju/Assets/VNHRR/Springfield/RailVehicles/Diesel/EMD GP9/Shared. What I found were various files that were F7 titled including Engine Sound, BIN and PROXYXML files for the F7. The F7 being the aliased engine that VNHRR used for the sounds of the GP9. Looked good to me but I still had no engine sounds on the GP9 when I ran the sim. So as a last ditch effort. I decided to copy/paste all the audio F7 files found in the Kuju folder (of which there were many not present at all in the VNHRR folder) into the "Shared" VNHRR folder for the EMD GP9. Those files were the actual sound files for the individual sounds such as T_Engine_RevDowntoN1, etc. This evidently was all that was needed as after adding these files to the "Shared" folder, I had GP9 engine sounds. I have no explanation why these were needed in the"Shared" folder if the correct files were already there. I uninstalled/deleted and reinstalled the TaD VNHRR three separate times and got the same results. No GP9 engine sounds. Anybody have an explanation?
