Hey everyone,

So just a quick update... working on some signalling issues, adding a ton of scenery (I'm off from work most of this month (TONS of vacation time) so I'll try to squeeze in and much time as I can to doing the area's I've started on.). Only thing is I'm in a debate... I have been thinking about tacking on one more "sub route" (if you say) to my main route. So far I have the Lehigh Line (Conrai/NS) to Allentown from Newark, National Docks Secondary (Including Croxton yard), Port Reading Secondary, and Garden State Secondary (Former Chemical Coast Line). I was thinking of tacking on the Amboy Secondary from SA ("Essay") to Browns Yard. Which would allow me to run scenarios for PR-32/PR-52 (former OI-16) in its entirety. It'll mean more scenery work, but I figure what the heck... I've come this far. Maybe I should release this in phases? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Kenny

Kenny - Glad to hear your going full steam again.
My vote is for releasing in phases (experience *!lol!* )

Hey MM,

Can you message me on how to do releases in phases? Just want to know how to do it once I'm ready.

I can tell you here. If your assets conform to Steam. You can go up on the Steam Workshop. Workshop checks for new files in the cloud and updates the end user. Its worked for me 180 times in 3.5 years!

Non Steam: Each of your updates is really the completed route up to that time. The end user would delete the existing contents of the route folder and replace it with your updated version.

Ken - the phased release really works well. It creates synergy and commitement between the builder and the user, keeps you motivated and makes some very happy people that get to use your route NOW. So even it you get tired of it or win the lottery or move to Tahiti - the route, though incomplete, would be there for people to enjoy. Make this happen! !!*ok*!!

Sounds good to me, I'm working on probably doing it in about 6 sections (as to not overwhelm myself). Part 1 is tentatively Oak Island Yard to Manville (effectively the Conrail Lehigh Line), Part 2: NS Lehigh Line Manville-Allentown, Part 3-6 are the secondary lines (and maybe a 7th?). So here's to plugging along... Okay time to get to the mountain (no pun intended) of route scenery to go.

So hey all,

I've been working on the Manville Area of the route, and just thought I'd post a couple pictures
The first is an early beginning shot of the bridge going east out of the yard

The second is after some of the work I did tonight.

The third is a pic of the actual location from railpictures.net (more or less)

I kind of have to make due with what assets I have, so forgive me if it's not "accurate" as far as the bridges go.

Holy crap! This is really nice.
Yes, we have to work with what assets we have but the way we combine them makes it look like the real thing and that's what you've done here great job.

Would you be so kind as to post a few pictures of your croxton area I wanted to see how that came out thank you.

Hey MM,

I haven’t really been working on that area as much as I wanted to. I wanted to focus on some of the main areas of the route, but what I am planning on doing is kind of duplicating a lot of what you’ve done so that our routes are “seamless” more or less. (If that’s cool with you.) I’m trying to not work in a skipping fashion since I want to finish a section and move on. I’m hoping to at least get the Conrail section done in the next couple months.

here is a weird Idea.. If I send you the tiles that contain the Croxton Roads and scenery .. and you change, if needed, the tile IDs of my scenery to your tile IDs .... would you be able to import my work? Geez its built already and if you were going to duplicate it anyway, why not let me give it to you!

Huh, not a bad idea - right?

That could work, but how would I know what tiles are what? And my elevation is probably way different than yours. But it’s worth a try?

Lets go to the image:
20171216160440_1.jpg

To get the white lines in editor, go to the left side flyout - the icon that looks like a diamond in Options is called" Tile Boundries". Check that box.

Note we are facing North.
The tile I am in marked in white is:
Tile +000004-000041
The next tile North is
Tile +000004-000040
The tile after is
Tile +000004-000039

The tile to the right is
Tile +000005-000041
The next tile North is
Tile +000005-000040
The tile after is
Tile +000005-000039

The tile to the left is
Tile +000003-000041
The next tile North is
Tile +000003-000040
The tile after is
Tile +000003-000039

My elevation is NEGATIVE (88.6m)
My elevation is OFF by (91.44m)
"On my Route" elevation is 2.84m
My google earth tells me I am at 2.7m

My route is off - so if you are correct my assets, in theory, would be above your ground by 88 meters.
If... If your grid matches ... and google maps line up... this just might work.

Well, as far as matching Google maps goes, I use the overlay for everything, so if the overlay matches real-world Lat. Long. co-ordinates than we should match up regardless. So hm... maybe this will work. How did you want to send me the files? If they're big you could email me, or we could do some drive/file sharing thing?

In the image I posted - the Lat and Long is there - do we have a match? I presume you have terrain loaded. At this location, using the smooth tool, what is the elevation in meters? More importantly is the tile - id's. I think they will match.

File sharing is easy - google drive. I upload the files - you import into A COPY of your route and we see what happens. We will start with the 9 tiles I reference and see what happens.
