Rivers in 3dCrafter

Unread postby savv_nz » Sun Jan 29, 2017 8:43 pm

Hi Guys,

I am currently working on a route project that requires me to knock together some custom rivers. I'm encountering a problem however, the image below is what 3dCrafter is exporting with the WaterCubeMap.fx - which in turn renders as a flat grey in the sim proper.

Has anybody had any experience with the WaterCubeMap.fx shader in 3dCrafter? I'm also curious as to how to change the water colour..

Thoughts?

You need to invert it.

I created one for RCAP using 3DC.

Invert what in particular?
Flip the polygon up the other way?

It's been a few years now, but I think you need to invert the face. There is a tool or script to do it.

Thanks, found the invert tool. However, inverting it has just made it completely invisible... unless the shader doesnt work in the editor?

Just checked, its the same in the simulator proper.
Does the shader perhaps require some volume, ie an inverted cube as opposed to an inverted flat plane?

It was a flat plane. It's also a loft which comes with its own complexity. Are you exporting it as a scenery object or a loft?

I am indeed exporting it at a loft, I've made quite a few of them so I know the difficulties involved with getting them to work quite well. I wonder why its determined to be invisible?

Well, I don't know what I did, but its suddenly working so I won't complain - the inverting seems to have been the key!

Do you have any ideas for how to adjust the water colour? We have quite blue water here in New Zealand due to glacial melt

Good to see that you got it in.

The color is adjusted in the blueprint.

I can't find anywhere in the standard loft blueprint to set the colour, I can find it in the 'water' type blueprints, but as they are for lakes and the like and not rivers it doesnt solve my little problem.
Any thoughts?

The river is looking awesome, would love to see this also exported to the file library, this would go perfect with my route project as well.

Would love to see two version of this, one with your color and one with this color, it's this color that I need for my route.

I'm still at a loss with regards to changing the colour. I've tried changing it in 3dC, I've tried copy/pasting in the section on colour from the Water blueprints... and nothing works.
I remain hopeful someone has an answer :)

I was mistaken. I was mixing it up with the lake tile I created which you can change the color. Looking at the loft I created for RCAP there does not seem to be a way to change the color of the water loft.

It's in RCAP.
