route marker in new route

I'm creating a route and I have it Dem'ed and a rail line marked using the bike path map thing. (this is not my reqular computer, on vacation) Now I want to add roads and yards but how do I do it? Do I need to make another route marker? Also how do I draw yards as markers? I hope I make a little sense here.

I have made route markers to follow tracks, roads and outline lakes. I have used both Google Earth and TopoRoute with pretty good success. Just name each set a different name. What I do is but the route marker files in a backup location then copy them to the real routemarkers file as I need them. When I am done I just but them back in the backup location, that way I don't have the screen cluttered with a bunch of lines. I believe there are six files for each set of markers.

Thanks guys, I'm beginning to get the idea. I got the terrain built and put in the river and wow it looks so great. And that's all I have but I'm excited. On vacation now but will be back at it before long.
