As many as the game engine can handle.

Depends if we're talking mesh animation or skeletal.

Speaking of animation someone mentioned having cows and sheep and such animated. Since we have people animated in the present game there should be no reason that we couldn't have animated livestock now other than no one has done it. Speaking of which I drove by a pasture full of Holsteins yesterday on my way home and none of them were moving.

The programming for a digital cow is probably more complex than the programming of the prototype.

For UE4, if that's what the topic is about, it's already doable and documented. If you've got the time ( vid is 1hour and I can't remember the timelines ) and want to take a look at this vid it explains the AI logic behind it. If you're familiar with the deer hazard from MSTS there's no reason, other than no access for us, that the same but better, can't be included.

None of the old content is backwards compatible, which is exactly how it should be, why must we have 9 year old Kuju crap in a brand new game engine, that's not what we should be looking forward to. I daresay that Payware folks like Rick, Iain and Jerry, amongst others, will be able to build and offer us brand new content inkeeping with the new UE4 requirements, I have every confidence in the American community to develop enough content, freeware and Payware, to maintain our interest in this version, my only forgivings are things like licences, BNSF, being a classic example, and as to how much content can be released without all the red tape, especially, to those of us outside the U.S.

I don't think some of you get what I am saying. A SD40-2 or a GP38-2 is the same Locomotive in the new game as well as the old game. A prototype route will still go from the same place to the same place. As far as TS2016 being a "piece of crap" I'm afraid I must disagree. It's been a wonderful ride which has given me thousands of hours of fun and I have a huge amount of admiration for the people in and out of DTG who have made many of these great locomotives, wagon, scenery, and routes come to life.

Will the new sim be a step up from where we are today? I certainly hope that it is however reality being what it is they are in fact going to be selling us a lot of stuff we already have just for the new game. It's like owning a locomotive for MSTS and one for TS. I hope you all understand this explanation now.

I think you need to read what I wrote again, I stated 9 year old Kuju crap, why must we have Kuju junk in this game any more, it isn't warranted, or, any of the other old RSDL content, I don't want to play with the old Kuju SD40-2 and the ES44AC, they're dreadfully outdated, we must move forward, this is UE4, everything should all be brand spanking new, fresh with gleaming textures, shaders, lods and polygons to play with, a scenery draw distance of at least 20 miles, especially, on our brand new 4GB graphics cards and our 3.6 GHz Quad Core CPUs, and 64 bit OS, this is what we expect after having spent our hard earned money on proper gaming equipment ripe for a brand new Train Simulator that's been promised, it's what we demand after 9 years. We also demand proper locomotive physics, coupler slack, dynamic braking, proper steam particles from every steam engine etc, etc, etc, Paul Jackson wants this to be the best Train Simulator, so do we, he needs to deliver. Reading between the lines I can see TS2017 being dropped in the future if TSW becomes a major success, I highly doubt that DTG have the staff and budget to run 2 train simulators simultaneously, the new one will surely take precedence, anyone with any business sense will tell you precisely the same.

We live in a world where people are a bit too clingy. We still have the zombie 8-bit MSTS as the all-time favorite train simulator. And Windows XP will probably be running the Mother computer on the Nostromo. Given that so many people have so much invested in it, don't read the TSX version it's last rites just yet.

I still have a WinXP with MSTS on it (not connected to the inter web). I have TS2016 and will get TS2017 Pioneer (for the Beta), and will add TWS to the list. ALL 3 have their merits and I like them all. It's like apples, oranges and bananas.... Just because kiwis come along and are my current favorite, doesn't mean I'm never going to give up the other three. Besides, I'm having too much fun with narrow gauge at the moment and I don't see TSW doing that for a while yet.... The future is bright indeed.....

What I was saying some people want Marias Pass and Horseshoe curve updated to TSW quality. The people at DTG said that at the beginning they were not going to do this. But instead focus on complete new routes on TSW.
