So in the bin file these two lines look like this:
<GeometryID d:type="cDeltaString">DTM\DD35Pack01\RailVehicles\GP35HRRC\Engine\[00]GP35UP</GeometryID>
<CollisionGeometryID d:type="cDeltaString">DTM\DD35Pack01\RailVehicles\GP35HRRC\Engine\[00]GP35UP</CollisionGeometryID>

Yes, that is exactly how it looks.

Try this. I tested it and it shows up here.

Believe it or not, it actually worked... Then I deleted your .bin file and edited the original for the GP35 myself and it actually worked, I'm not doing anything differently than I was before either.

Thanks for the help, though I don't see why it wasn't working for me before, it seems to just be one of Train Simulator's odd moments!

I hate to make an old thread active again, but I've found some more interesting issues.

To start with, I was finally able to load the GP35 repaint into Train Simulator, but only after doing something a little crazy with the .bin files. Which was backing up the .xmls to my desktop, reloading the .bins with serz, deleting the original .xmls and reloading them with serz from the .bins, which would give me a file containing only one line of code, so all I did after that was move all of the code from the backup .xmls to the originals then saved and reloaded them to the .bins, it worked fine.

But here's where it gets interesting, today I decided to start a new GP35 repaint, so I do my little trick with the .bins, but this time something different happens. The locomotive loads fine, except it spawns with the headlights on instead of off (the UP GP35 spawns with them off) and if I attempt to change the road number, it just reverts to what it was before, the fuel level also shows up as being coal and water instead of diesel and both are labeled as "text 104" and set to empty, they also revert to what they were at first if I attempt to change them.

Here's a screenshot of some of the issues in game:
