Clear Creek Narrow Gauge route

It does appear that the caboose isn't located properly on the rail though, as if the far wheel is on the ng rail and the closer wheel is hovering above the ties.

bad news.

the dual guage track isnt "functional". only the stock specially built for the dual gauge yard will work. notice in the screenshot below, the caboose is centered like normal

The caboose appears centered on the NG set of rails, so that implies that the cars aren't "offset". With the dual gauge, it's going to be like having two parallel sections of track that overlap. So, there's going to be a margin of error when setting cars on the track when making scenarios. With the track centers being so close together, it'll be easy to unintentionally put a SG car on the NG half of the the dual gauge, or vise versa. I ran across such things when messing with dual gauge in both MSTS and Trainz. I hope what I wrote makes sense. Look around on the forum, and you'll find a couple of threads of people experimenting with dual-gauge, which should give an idea of how it'll work in the C&S route.

The caption below that picture clearly states that both the stock car and caboose in that picture are standard gauge.

"To bring life to the dual-gauge trackage around Golden on the Clear Creek Narrow Gauge route, a selection of standard-gauge rolling stock will also be provided, including a stock car and caboose (above) as well as other equipment. "

I think he means the Standard gauge stuff that comes with the route is different then the other SG stock we have at the moment. Notice how the caboose is "Offset" from the rails a bit. I think the SG Stock is offset from the NG track a bit as to match up the SG rails.

!! I logged on this morning and saw all this activity and thought it was to announce it was finally here, only to see post after post about WIP screenies. If that is what it turns out to be, so be it - it will be the best that can be done within the scope of a program heading for 10 years old.

That said, it would be nice to now see somewhere like Alamosa represented with both the standard gauge from Walsenberg over La Veta Pass and the narrow gauge, Creed, Antonito/Durango & Santa Fe lines. - can but dream... Just looking forward to getting some enjoyment from this one first...

Maybe tomorrow.....

Not sure if Jonathan posts or even visits here, but on the off chance for taking on and bringing us this project. Along with the upcoming VNHRR, it has rekindled my enjoyment in the sim

That is correct. In order to make the whole concept work, the SG cars had in fact to be offset to one side. It was the only way because tracks in RW (and probably any other train sim) aren't actually two rail heads, but just a single line/ribbon on which the train glides along. You can see that quite clearly when pressing the space bar in the route editor. Having to offset SG cars also means that they only work when placed in the 'right direction' -- flipping the car 180° will make it sit next to the tracks (which is probably what happened to the poor old caboose on the WIP screenshot above). Even then, it is merely a cosmetic issue and the car still isn't derailed as far as the sim is concerned.

Just content yourself with the thought that somewhere out there, there are people happily enjoying this right now to their hearts content - they are the beta testers (and good luck to them)

This has been one of the longer "announce > release" routes for a while. Normally it is just a couple of weeks, if that long. Dont know if that means they found issues in testing, or DTG just wanted to stretch it out. Dont recall seeing quite so many pre-release updates either (and they have been very welcome) I am tipping it will be Thursday, their usual day of major releases, but that might just be wishful thinking

Please be aware Clear Creek Narrow Gauge has released, however due to a temporary error on Steam the US exclusive version of this route has been made available to to users in all regions. This is an error and users who purchase this version outside of the US will be unable to run the content.

There are 2 versions of this content currently available:

1. Clear Creek Narrow Gauge Common Route Add-On (USA Customers Only) - Contains BNSF Branding and will not work for users outside of the US.

2. Clear Creek Narrow Gauge Common Route Add-On (Non USA Customers) - Contains all content included in "USA Customers only" pack minus BNSF branding and will run for all users outside of the US

Please do not purchase the "USA Customers Only" pack if you are based outside of the US.
