Britkitfrancis wrote:I downloaded the F7 reskins but not the patch. Will the patch make the engine actully appear during a custom scenario? Only the couplers show up. Also, i can't even find either the default or Amtrak G-Trax passenger cars at all in my game, even after following download instructions. (The file doesn't come with the PDF the desription says it does.)

Edit: I'm confused, you need a Britkit F7 for the reskins to work? Can I use the free ones? Is it Kit 09 EMD E7A?

I also have downloaded the Russel Snow Plow fro his webstie, but I can't find it for a custom scenario.

What I had to do with StrategyFirst's repaint to work is take all the files and manually place them inside the directory Railworks\Assets\Kuju\RailsimulatorUS\Railvehicles folder. You can't directly copy/paste the assets folder from the download into your Railworks\Assets directory because the directory that comes with the download is missing one link - RailsimulatorUS. If you directly copy/paste the download into you assets directory, it creates a railvehicles folder in Railworks\Assets\Kuju - outside the RailsimulatorUS folder which contains all the necessary blueprints for the repaint to work.

Here's what I mean:
Screenshot 2015-09-05 07.00.01.jpg

So my advice:
1)Download StrategyFirst's Amtrak F7 repaint from the file library here
2)Once it's downloaded, unzip the download to your desktop. It will create its own folder called Amtrak F7 Repaint
3)Open this folder and navigate to Amtrak F7 Repaint\Assets\Kuju.
4)Right-click the Railvehicles folder and select Copy. Either close or minimise the window.
5)Navigate to your Railworks folder in whatever location you installed it (I put it on my 500gb external hard drive)
6)Open the Assets folder within the Railworks directory.
7)Navigate to Railworks\Assets\Kuju\RailsimulatorUS
8)Paste the copied railvehicles folder into this directory. Select to merge the 2 RailVehicles folders when prompted.
9)Once the files are done copying over, you should be able to navigate to Assets\Kuju\RailsimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\F7\Default.
10)If you've done it right it should look like this. Note my directory on the top line:

You only need the default Union Pacific F7 that comes with Cajon Pass for this repaint to work.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Don't feel bad. It's not that serious, and at the end of the day it still works, and that's what matters !!*ok*!! . Just requires an extra step, that's all. For me that's no biggie !*cheers*!

Sorry, wasn't specific enough. I meant for the patch to fix the F7 repaint.

While we are still on an Amtrak topic, are there any repaints for the F40PH like this?

As far as I know, no. However, if anyone stumbles across some, I'll add them to my Southwest Chief as an alternative to FP45's.

Yup, it includes the base files and the patch. It's bundled together, so that's all you need.

Is there any way to contact Obo and get this on his website?

Also, another thing, is it possible to install the Amtrak E8 repaint to the freeware Britkits E8?

Why do you want to get this on his website? And as far as the E8 sure there is.

Just to get the updated version there so that there aren't any more problems.

I feel like I'm missing something. I can find the patch for the F7 In the file library and there hasn't been any mention of a link in the thread yet. Where can I download the patch?

The patch is in that file that was linked.

I took the base files and overwrite them with my patch and uploaded it. My patch is already in the package, so you only need that version. The patch wasn't uploaded as a standalone. Think of it as an updated version I uploaded. Are we on different pages?

OK, now were on the same page.

At first, I thought it was a stand alone. So can I just delete the old F7 files and replace them with the new ones?

Yes, you can. That's recommended.
