Drop-in ScaleRail track replacement?

Unread postby OpenRailer90 » Mon Jul 27, 2015 12:45 am

I am aware of 3DTrains' ScaleRail conversions for several TS2015 routes, and want to know how to install them as a drop-in replacement of default route tracks, not as a standalone route as with the Cajon conversion. This way I can still run workshop scenarios and scenarios of DLC vehicles for the respective non-ScaleRail versions of the ScaleRail-converted routes.

This works similar to the DBTracks conversions by RWAustria and Trainworks for the German routes.

There used to be conversion tools courtesy ( !!jabber!! ) The Ottodad ( !!jabber!! ) from trainsim.com. Check his homepage here: http://www.otto-wipfel.co.uk/

I couldn't find any tools, but since they are batch files swapping textures around, they might be included with his route downloads.

Be careful with these modified routes' Kuju assets, for Ottodad changes to lots of default stuff will be hard to eradicate when you want to undo his work.

There are complete and clear instructions about how to do this in the RWTools manual. I did a conversion of the Far North route and it was easy if you just follow Mike's instructions.

I'm also interest to know if all the fixes in the ScaleRail enhancements like the Surfliner bridge and gantry cranes will also be placed into the original route. This included the wooden and concrete tie placements.

Bridge track is there, but I never created any gantry cranes.
Cheers!

I believe in Hobart Yard or something the yard cranes are in the wrong alignment position.

If you don't know, then don't guess. I haven't yet addressed the gantry crane issue in the conversion.
Cheers!
