That's a pretty far out wish. It will not be for free I can tell you that now. Think about how long it took Mike to make the 844, if you don't know find the wip thread. DTG will never invest the amount of time it takes to make a model such as that. Don't get me wrong though, I'd love that to but I doubt that will ever happen.

You've hit the nail on the head there. DTG would never countenance spending two man-years on one loco, so it's left to third party developers such as myself to fill the gap. However, given the return I've had on my investment of two years effort, I'm not in any hurry to do another project like the FEF-3. It's not helped by the fact that steam is a niche within a niche and most people aren't in a rush to buy, but simply wait a few weeks for one of the many sales. That's no surprise given that you don't need a huge amount of patience to wait for a sale. Then there's the additional fact that other models that are clearly inferior in every respect are lauded as good models (clear to me anyway, but obviously a lot of people are blind to glaring defects). That makes me think DTG are right and I shouldn't spend so much time making details that many people probably don't even notice or don't care about, or aren't willing to pay for. It's the law of diminishing returns that works against me.

SO would you pay $40.00 for something like you want and it wouldn't be on sale for the first two years?

If I were to sell a model on my own, without using the Steam store, that's exactly the price I would set, and there'd be no discounts ever, so that there'd be no expectations of getting it cheaper and no incentive to hold off a purchase.

See now you made it cost $80.00. A route takes darn near as much time as a complex locomotive and there is darn sure enough rolling stock out there to satisfy almost anyone. !*roll-laugh*!

Cajon Pass is in modern times and is ancient in the game. However if that's what you think is immersive then I guess I'm back to $40.00.

Where are you going with this thread or are you just trying now to stir things up?
