Template Scenario Marker (Template Scenarios)

Unread postby Buzz313th » Wed Jan 14, 2015 11:24 pm

In TS2015, I just noticed we have a Scenario marker called a "Template Scenario Marker".. Does anyone know what this is used for...

On a similar note...

Does anyone know if it's possible to create and populate one scenario with Static Rolling Stock, Ai Trains, etc... And then be able to copy this scenario to another scenario type so you save yourself the initial work of populating the environment.. Kinda like making a template scenario to start some of your similar scenarios with.

Thanks ahead of time

Hi,

That is the scenario marker used for creating QuickDrive scenarios. When editing one of them you can use these "Spawn Point" track markers to set up where AI, player and static consists will get placed.

Yes, that can be done quite easily. Set up your base (standard) scenario as desired, then save and exit the editor. Back in the Build/scenarios menu of TS15, there's a button "Clone" which will create a renamed duplicate of any scenario -- click that, enter the name of the new scenario, and then continue to edit the cloned scenario.

Cheers

Thank you very much GreatNortherner for the reply..

Ok, so the "Template" Scenario Marker is for quickdrive, now what about the following..

Relay Scenario Marker
Timetable Marker

Thanks for the pointer on cloning the scenario, but I shoulda been more specific.. Lets say you have a "Standard Scenario" all fleshed out and want to copy it to make a different type scenario, such as a free roam, career, or quickdrive?

Thanks ahead of time..

As far as I know (a loaded phrase, indeed), changing a scenario marker from one type to another requires editing code files, which I am very hesitant to do, especially when an "expert" tells me how easy it is.

Perhaps this can be done with RW_Tools? ('Scuse me while I consult my research department.)

Aha! Eureka! Here's the relevant passage from the RW_Tools help file:

Scenario Types
Each scenario can be one of the following types:-
1. Standard Scenario
2. Career Scenario
3. Freeroam Scenario
4. Tutorial Scenario
The current type of scenario will have its ‘radio button’ set to on.
You can change Career Scenario to Standard or Freeroam scenario.
Standard may be changed to Freeroam
You can’t make other scenarios Career scenarios or Tutorial scenarios.
You can’t make Freeroam scenarios anything else.

Evviva Mike! Hope this helps.
