Missing Numbers on Caboose reskin.(solved)

Unread postby Ericmopar » Wed Nov 05, 2014 12:48 am

I've got missing textures on some caboose reskins, which are also duplicated in the file library. I think it's the same upload from two different dates.
I've tried moving number files from other cabooses that work. I've tried clearing the blueprint cache.

Try this.
Put these in the caboose texture folder on the caboose with the problem.
caboose numbers.zip

That didn't work Buzz or maybe didn't work on it's own.

I still got the missing number textures until I decided to copy in the "caboose_digits.bin" file from V-1 of the Kuju caboose.
I make no claim of intelligence, just a big hunch... I have no idea if it was both files together or just the "Caboose_Digits.bin" file *!embar*!

File removed do to it being just a jury rig.

Each caboose would need the digits if they are not there to begin with. I didn't have the problem so I was just guessing. If that was not there then you would need it also.

I just opened up the rwp from the reskin and the numbers and caboose_digits bin were both there and yet it wasn't working. !*don-know!*
I still don't know whether it was just the digits bin or the combo of your numbers with the digits bin that did the trick.
In any case it's not working with the newer versions of Train Simulator and needs to be updated.

Could this be something you fixed on yours years ago and forgot about? I do that sometimes. *!greengrin!*

I am not sure what you mean by "In any case it's not working with the newer versions of Train Simulator". It's working here and I'm pretty sure I never worked on this puppy. The numbers I sent you are transparent so no numbers should appear. My files are all dated from 2011 and 2012 and there were no changes with the new version of TS. The bin file you put in there if it was not there was the one causing the missing textures.

That's what I'm trying to tell you Buzz. The bin was in there, but the numbers weren't showing up anyways. I downloaded it twice and got the same results before starting this thread, so maybe the files got corrupted or something on the server.
When I copied in the caboose_digits bin from V1 of the Kuju caboose, that's when it started working for me.
Actually I'm on my third download of those reskins and still had the problem until copying over the bin.
As someone else stated, they also have the problem.

Here's a screen shot of what came in the rwp for that reskin. The same is true of both cabooses.
Something in there isn't working for those of us that are just now downloading it and needs to be updated, or the files got corrupted on the sever at some point in time.

Cause I'm really trying to understand this. When and where did you D/L this from? I've had it on my computer for a long time. I'm just trying to determine what is screwed up here. I'd like to look at the D/L you got and then I'll look at the current .ap of the default ones.

Here's the same file after "fixing" it with the caboose_digits.bin from the V1 Kuju caboose.
Looks the same...

I got it from here recently and the links are at my original post above. There are two links to the same files, because someone uploaded them on two different dates.
Both have the same problem though, with no number texturing.

If you have the same cabooses already installed, may I suggest renaming the files first and then reinstall using the links.
I'm just as curious as you, and if they'll show up okay on your system, and if so, why?

BTW I installed them both with the package manager and tried to extract them with 7-Zip and install the files manually. Neither method worked for me.

Hey Buzz, I just noticed something for the very first time. The Digits bin that I extracted from the Kuju RailsimulatorUSAssets.ap folder to fix the reskin is 2k in size, while the one that came with the reskin was only 1.3k in size. I think there is a clue there my friend. *!greengrin!*

Weird...
There are no numbers at all. I just went back and looked at the thumbnails and realized that there aren't supposed to be any numbers, but I shouldn't have had those missing textures either...

I wonder if something has to be enabled in the editor that I'm missing?

So you downloaded those from my links, then installed them with the Package Manager Buzz?
I know that Kuju and RailsimulatorUS assets had to be enabled, but could I have missed something else, not in the readme?
Something that long time users take for granted?

I just maually removed eveything and started from scratch. Same problem with missing textures.
My package manager made a path to an external folder for those cabeese. Assets/Kuju/RailsimulatorUS/RailVehicles/Freight/Caboose/

I have this same problem while trying to install to TS2014 as well, so it isn't just TS2015.
