I finally got Stevens Pass unpacked along with all the assets and scenarios. When I go into RW_Tools to replace an engine in one of my scenarios with an engine in the Assets/GNTX/railVehicles/diesel and hit the "Find Available Rolling Stock" nothing comes up. I also tried the Assets/GNTX/Stevens Pass/railvehicles/diesels folder and still not nothing come up. I know there are two engines in these folders the ES44 and the GP38. Any Idea why they can't be found ?

I don't have this problem.
I tried with different folders and the list always comes up.

Make sure you check the "Diesel" radio button.

RSC have purposefully done this, in my opinion, to stop users swapping rolling stock that they don't have for those they do, thus forcing users to purchase RSC DLC.

My reasons for believing this are:-

1. Although I was previously a beta tester for the core program and they sent me early copies of TS2012 and TS2013, when asked about when a copy of TS2014 would be available, I was twice lied to by being told 'next week' - I have never seen an early copy and I was removed without any explanation from the beta forums for the core program. Not even the courtesy of 'We have had you removed'.

2. Last week, a user asked on their Facebook site 'How can I swap locomotives in a scenario' another user responded that he should use RW_Tools - that reply was removed within a minute...

If users are still having problems unpacking any .ap files or can't find locomotives in the Scenario Editor, please email me direct with details of exactly which items they have a problem with and I will see what I can do.

Mike, I am so glad for everything you do to help this game and us modders with your tools, it just grinds my gears to hear that RSC just keeps slapping you on the hands! You didn't do anything wrong in my book. !*don-know!*

Here is what I found out so far. I have both the route (content) and the assets unzipped. The loco's show up in game and if you tick Stevens Pass in another route they show up and load in game. If you ask RWTools to show you rolling stock used in a scenario it shows on the list. The only thing it will not do is show up if you want to add it to a scenario. It shows up in the list but won't pop up as being available. Very strange. I have never had that happen ever before.

Isn't there a (user-changeable) setting somewhere in one of the files to make objects available/unavailable? It seems to me this issue came up about the stations on the recently-released West Somerset Railway.

Bob.

P.S. The following is a direct quote from a Railworks Support reply to my question.

"We are a software studio we do not handle distribution of content or indeed any transactions, that is what steam does, in fact even if we wanted to access your steam account for any reason, we could not, only steam has the access.

You are obviously an intelligent man, I will leave it to your judgment, who do you think will be better placed to resolve your problem?

Especially a problem that involves the distribution and installation of software content?"

You can't do it with RWTools until we figure this out but you can still do it directly using the world editor.

What items are you trying to swap? I have had no problem swapping the 2 locos in the Stevens Pass/Free Roam Merritt scenario with the StP ES44DC BNSF nd and the StP GP38-2 Ex-BN locos as under - have you actually checked in the railworks\Assets\GNTX\StevensPass\RailVehicles\Diesel folder that the stock is there? :-

This may help,
I have found that if you make a copy of the route Stevens pass (lets say Stevens Pass 2) that it will now show the in RW tools as Stevens Pass and Stevens Pass 2 both fully accessable.
You can edit either or delete Stevens Pass 2 and deal with the original Stevens Pass.
While this seems to unzip the whole thing, it is much easier then dealing with all of the parts and pieces. You could then make your changes to Stevens Pass 2 and they will be preserved.

OK - possibly solved the problem of stock not showing up in RWTools.

Seems to work if you remove the "read only" in properties (right click on .bin file).
