Go under sounds setting and turn off back ground music. You will find all the other setting under the SETTINGS link upper right corner of the game screen.

Some things, like the so-called "sound track", can be turned off, as Bob pointed out; others ... just close your eyes briefly and suck 'em up. RSC makes this product for more than one audience of buyers and tries to tailor it to everyone ... there are probably a number of things appreciated by us old-timers that drive the mac-minds up the wall (at least I hope so). I also find the bouncing menu blocks ridiculous, but if I have to tolerate them to find my way to the stunning new graphics, so be it. I've been able to raise graphics settings to levels that would have stopped my computer in its tracks under TS2013, but TS2014 barely looses a frap. Hoo-hah!

Under data/textures/frontend you'll find all the graphics the UI of the game uses.

The main splash screen is ui_splash_railsim.tga. You can alter this if you like. UKTS already has some replacements.

All the informative and helpful messages come from a api.flickr.com page, which probably can be redirected to a small Apache or other mini html server on your computer.

All the bouncy stuff is .swf Flash, residing in data/scaleform, the main menu being RS_2013_MenuSystemMaster.swf.

No doubt you can hack something fancy to your liking out of it if you decompile that .swf or make your own substitutes.

IrfanView with its plugin collection will open these .swf and .tga files.

You can also substitute the music, replace the .ogv movie with your own or a zero bytes dummy.

Have to say I preferred the repetitive but pretty loading screenshots in 2013 vs the repetitive and mostly inane loading quotes and alleged tips in 2014.

That one is easy. Go find flash in data and just do a .xxx after it and Shazam! It's gone.

Sure ... and the first time you have to verify the cache, all of those geegaws will be right back. The "tips" are obviously aimed at new players and my guess is that they'll be replaced eventually. After all, RSC can use those spaces to whet our appetites for DLC more profitably than for offering banal tips over and over and ...

I would love to know if there is some way to replace the menu music with a little more my taste.
