This freeware ES44 locomotive repaint has been made to be a generally accurate rendition of the following:

1) CSX ES44AC unit numbers 700 - 859

2) CSX ES44DC unit numbers 5200-5501

3) CSX ES44DC, unit number 5500 - "Spirit of Cincinnati"

Both CLEAN and WEATHERED versions are included, (with the exception of #5500, which is only available 'Clean'). Also included are enhanced in-cab textures - specifically, fixing the throttle texture to include 'IDLE'.

INSTALLATION:

Open the TS2012 Launch window and use the Package Manager to install the locomotive. To place the units, you will have to enable the object filter for the provider 'KUJU'; this should be done by default. These files will NOT work with any version of Railworks other than Railworks 3: TrainSimulator 2012.

COPYRIGHTS, DISTRIBUTION, WARRANTY:

All of the contents of this software are copyrighted material. The ES44 model was designed by and all rights are retained by RailSimulator.com, however, because the ES44 is default equipment in the simulator, the original model shape files are included.  The included textures of the ES44 provided in this package have been created from the default RailSimulator.com texture files as templates, and are considered freeware by MontanaRails. CSXT retains all rights to the name or trademarks within this file, and they are presented through fair use law. This file and all parts of it must never be sold. This file and all its parts must be distributed free of charge, this readme must be included in the package, and the original .rwp integrity is maintained - no changes are made to any of the files.

This software is provided to you on an “as is” basis without any express or implied warranty of any kind. Liability for any software or hardware damage resulting from proper or improper use of this file resides with the end user.

KNOWN ISSUES:

Some textures were mapped poorly by KUJU. For example, there is a texture issue on the right side walkway step (yellow stripe) and the front cab door hinges are blue, instead of yellow. Unfortunately, these issues are limitations of the model texture mapping, and cannot be fixed.

The ES44 model was set up to display four digit (xxxx) unit numbers. The ES44AC locomotives I chose to model have three digit numbers. To get around this, a blank placeholder is used at the end of the number. Therefore, the number will appear skewed to the left. At this time, there doesnt seem to be a way around this either.

Since the unit number/numberboard font color is gold, a compromise was made on the rear hood. The gold end paint does not go all the way to the top of the hood (as it does in real life) so one can see the unit numbers against a blue background.
