Graphic problem

Hey guys I'm having a technical graphic issue that i'm not sure how to address. I just brought a new laptop and it runs TS2013 great even with TSX mode on and the details at high levels. The problem i'm having is the field view that is litter with these dark lines that parallel each other. It shows in the cab of some locos and on almost every route that i have ran so far.

Is there a solution to this problem?

It has to do with the anti aliasing. You either need to change your video card settings or game settings and that will go away.

oh I have that mode turned off to save some frames. Ok I will give this a try. What should I set it too?

I would (takes some time) just go up one or two settings at a time until you get what you need. That's what I did. Not sure where I ended up.

A Strange thing happen, when I turned down the shadow quality the lines disappeared. Doesn't seem to be anti aliasing related since i tested it with the settings off.

Just for the halibut. Make sure the nvidea control panel has the trainsim set at application controlled. I'm finding out that Railworks doesn't like to be overridden by the vid card setings.

I think having the Intel HD4000 MIGHT be a factor. Besides having worse framerates then AMD's integrated GPUs, I've read on the net for years that Intel's GPUs can have compatibility and glitchy graphics issues with SOME games. Intel makes excellent CPUs in performance. In GPUs? Ahhhh.... not so much.

Are you running the video card that is on the motherboard? I see you don't have one listed?

He did list it....the Intel HD4000. He doesn't appear to have a dedicated GPU card installed.


To the OP......


Your computer doesn't suck. The Intel HD4000 isn't so hot.... but at least it's better than the HD3000 that preceded it. Otherwise the rest of your computer seems fine

As for what can you do to make it better? Well that's the hard part. If your laptop has a slot to add a graphics card, you may be able to add one.

But this is where it gets tricky....

Most laptops aren't like desktops where you can put just about any card in it. There are space and slot location issues. Your laptop may not have the space to put anything in it but the lower end video cards. You can pretty much rule out any high end cards. They would almost certainly be too big...especially with all the crazy heat pipe cooling tubes involved. Not to mention if your laptop has sufficient space for cooling in general. Usually only high end laptops like Alienware have the space or option for high end cards.

I would do some research on your laptop to see what your options are. I'd say call the laptop maker up or go on their website to see what your options are. Otherwise..... if the framerate is pretty decent, just live with it. You can always take into consideration a better graphics option whenever you decide to purchase your next laptop or desktop.
