Coupling Sounds

Unread postby Railfan49 » Wed Mar 27, 2013 4:41 pm

When I couple and uncouple engines from their cars the sound of the coupling/uncoupling happens sporadically. I never hear the sounds 100% of the time. Does anyone else notice this?

In a word, yes !

Sometimes when I'm just a few feet away from a coupling action ( *!embar*! ), I can't hear a thing; other times, when I'm far away, the couplers sound like cannon shots.

Depends, are you in the cab, or using the "Fly" cam? Some engines, you can't hear much out of the cab. You feel a "BUMP" and hear a crunch. I use that "fly" cam (F8) so I can watch what's going on. Scenery, too. But, you can't hear the alearter. US trains seldom have them anyways. And, of course, the HUD doesn't wanna work at times. Several times of late, the darn cars just don't feel like coupling! Usually clear blueprint cache, do a restart after a save.

The "Fly" cam works!!!!! You need to get up close to the car being coupled. Like you were coupling/uncoupling the cars yourself.I hear the sounds of the coupling and uncoupling all the time now instead of sporadically.

I just noticed you don't need to be up close to the cars being coupled. You just need to be in the "Fly" cam mode not the external camera

Actually, I'm using the "2" or "3" cam, whichever is appropriate (i.e., closer to the coupling.

I haven't had trouble coupling lately, but the save & restart you suggest does usually solve the problem, even without clearing the blueprint cache.
