Try doing it without ever looking at the F5 HUD. There's a big lump of coal to the left. If you can almost see the bottom of it, you've got the ideal level. I find the best water level is when the red ball floating in the water tube is between the top two bars of the sight gauge holder.

i was going to make the test valves operational too, with water spraying out or not depending on the level, but I ran out of room for control variables in the engine blueprint (if i try to add one more to it, the blueprint won't open next time I try to open it),

Superb video! The whistle is wonderful! I thought about making a pack of alternative whistles and uploading it here, but I think I'll leave that to you!

It is an excellent video - a perfect showcase (and it doesn't hurt Ricks wonderful route either :) ) The sounds are superb and I think a selection of whistles would be a great idea to add just that touch of variety. Looking forward to giving it a run up the COA with a string of lumber products myself :)

I'm hoping it won't be long now. I sent another build to RSC late last night (or was it early this morning?) and I honestly can't think of much else to do. I even followed Matt's suggestion of including in the manual the text of all the 37 pop-up messages from the "extended tutorial" scenario (that explains most of the controls).

I've been preparing some more scenarios, but it takes a lot of time to test and debug them, so the idea is to upload them to the Steam Workshop, as free extras, after the loco is released. I'll probably do several more scenarios, when the fancy takes me, and upload them there. The advantage of Steam Workshop is that I won't be limited to placing every scenario on the HSC.

Tender textures - I finally had a chance to take BNFS' Showcase video home last night and watch it on the large screen. Once I managed to clean up the !*drool*! I did notice something that struck me as odd, given the level of detail in teh whole project. At about the 3:30 mark, cylinder cocks are opened (beautiful effect by the way) and the loco moves off, but the one thing that struck me was a pale brown underside of the tender, visible from the low viewing angle. I am not sure it is a early build or it is supposed to be like that. Just thought I would mention it. Sorry if a bit obvious...

Yes, I see what you mean. I hadn't really thought much about it before ,,, It seemed ok to me, the underside splattered with rust and muck, but maybe I should darken it. I'm not sure if I'll have a chance to do any more tweaking. If I do, I'll attend to this one, otherwise I can upload an alternative texture file here, to replace the default one.

Cheers,
Mike

I've darkened the undersides of the tender, which also darkened the frames of the tender trucks (same texture), so if I get a chance to send one more rwp before it's released, that change will be in.

I sent about a dozen more screenshots to RSC and they appear to be posting them one at a time on their fb page. If anyone wants to have a look and leave a comment, I'd appreciate it (as long as it's not a comment like "argh steam trains are boring , how about more modern trains" *!rolleyes!* ).

Personally I don't like modern diesels ether, about the only diesel I liked were the streamlined era F-Unit locomotives and the E-Units.

!!*ok*!! Thanks Woody :D

I'm awfully tempted sometimes to answer the comments on RSC's facebook, but I'll try to resist the temptation. I'll just let the screenshots (and a video if they ever get around to posting it) speak for themselves. But there's just no pleasing some people.

I like everything. Even the modern, fasty, pointy things the kids like (just not as much). There's beauty in just about everything if you look hard enough. Except maybe a British Q1 Class Austerity steam engine - try as I do, it always looks to me like a slug with wheels !*roll-laugh*! (Google it and you'll see what I mean).

Hi mate...

You know my thoughts already - my cc is sitting here on the desk waiting to be used :)

Unfortunately the screen shots just do not do your work justice - it can only really be appreciated when you see and hear it in action. From the BNSFDude video, it sounds like a perfect sound set. RSc will be cursing because all future releases are going to be measured against this benchmark. That is probably the last time it will run as it should on my system, cos if I have to fire and drive and lineside and pace, I cant see me getting too far :D Thanks again for the perseverance in getting this too us...

**!!bow!!**
