class66 v2 brake drag

Hi:

I have a question for Tom Pallen about your scenario 'Class 66 at York'.

I have the steam download of Class 66 v2. In your scenario, after all the air pressure is bleed off I still get brake drag. The air pressure gauges show zero.

I get up to 15 mph and I drop off my throttle, and the loco wants to slow down to a stop fast. It does not coast. This is on level ground and no load.

In the past I had other locos that did the same thing. In one of the bin file is a line were the value of the air pressure was too low so the spring brake was not fully released. The brakes were dragging. I think the same thing is happening with the class 66 v2. However, I lose the info as to where and what line to change the value.

Would you know anything about it: Tom? Thank you kindly for any feedback.

Rollingresistance factor is way too high- if you have rwtools I suggest you reduce it by about 1/10th. My doctored 66 works so much better. If you like, I can send you the modified BIN file.

Thanks for the reply.

Could you tell me which bin file this RollingResistance Factor is located. I can change it no problem. I use RWtools all the time.

I found the other loco. It is the BR143 of GermanRoadroad that has a similar problem, only it was the air pressure was too low to overcome the spring brakes.

It's in the FL folder, the emd_66_fl.bin file is the one you want

I found the RollingFriction Factor in the emd_66.bin file.

It is called RollingFrictionCoefficient of 0.01568 so I made it 0.001

There also a DragCoefficient of 8 and I made it 5

The end result was great. The loco will coast nicely plus it does slows down which is expected. There will always be friction in nature.

I found it to work more realistically with 0.0025 and 6

I have the route but did not had a good chance to try it out.

I am not sure if you know this but most Canadian's early ancestors are from Europe.

My mother's parents are from Norway. My father's father is from Ireland, my father's mother is from England.

So I am half Norwegian, part Irish and part English. In other words, I am a Canadian Heinz 57.
