How about adding a set of blank tga textures for reskinning? A lot of shortline railroads used consolidations similar to this one.

The model is very complex and that makes the texturing complex too. I use many of the texture files as a kind of palette and use the same bit of texture in many places, to keep the number of texture files, and the amount of texture in memory, down to a reasonable amount. That said, there are a few (large) texture files for the exterior model that are all that would be needed to give a loco a different paint scheme. Also, the road names are in a dedicated texture file. I could make those available. It would of course be even easier for repainters if I provided the Photoshop files with all their layers intact (I use a lot of layering to get the weathering and manual shading effects). I'll have to think about it. In any case, if someone wants a specific livery, they could ask and I could probably do it for free and upload it here. Or if someone else wants to do one, they could contact me and I'd be happy to give them a hand (like showing them which files to modify and explaining how they are mapped - I myself often have to go into the 3DC model and select faces to check how I mapped them).

Anyway, here's a screenshot of the lined livery, with the doors and windows in red and the platforms and wheel tyres in a pale white. I've kept the weathering and grime from the original.

Now that's sharp! Takes me back. I remember when the Spectrum locos came out, the Consolidation was one of the first, and it had the red windows, perhaps also the white. It was the first nicely detailed plastic loco, for those of us who couldn't afford the pricey brass. I know I'm talking HO instead of real world heritage, but I fell in love with the Consolidation then and researched it a good bit. I still have a number of books on it. Lovely engine. Really looking forward to this one. I think I still have that Spectrum loco in its original box somewhere.

Again, I hope you will provide a texture guide and some blank tga files for those of us who want to reskin your model.

Just a request here, but could we see how it looks with the Britkits USRA oil tender? (It may be way too tall, but that's why I'm asking to see it)

I downloaded Dick's freeware Vanderbilt tender, but it doesn't look good with the Consolidation. I don't have the USRA one, sorry.

I'll be honest, I really didn't like the fake Pennsylvania livery - it was, well, fake! This, however absolutely rocks!

I'm in the queue! *!!wink!!*

Yep, I never liked it either *!lol!*

I'd always intended for it to be AT&N (100% authentic) but RSC asked me to do a Pennsy livery for the initial screenshots. Then someone on facebook pointed out that it didn't look like the Consolidations that ran on the PRR (it doesn't, much), so we decided to go back to the AT&N livery and do some "what if" scenarios on the HSC. I was going to invent a storyline to explain why an AT&N loco is on the PRR, but nothing comes to mind, so maybe I'll just let the players make up their own explanation. Anyway, I'm open to suggestions.

One little thing - the textures on the tender bogies look more rust coloured than the running gear on the loco - is that correct?

EDIT:- On closer inspection - yes, I think it is.

Without any obligation, any estimated release date yet?

I've just this minute finished the very last detail in 3DCrafter ... the link (hook) from the coupling raiser bars (loco and tender) to a hook eyelet on the buckeye couplers (yesterday I also added the air hoses running from the cab, under the air reservoirs and down to the front of the loco, and the two independent brake cylinders - they really do complete the look of all the gubbins between the wheels).

So, all I have to do now is finish the manual and write a few more scenarios, and then it'll be ready to give to RSC for beta testing of the complete package. I don't know how long the beta testing will take. Hopefully, it'll be available by early to mid March.
