ReDem

Unread postby donjgatlin » Sun Jan 13, 2013 5:10 pm

I'm having some trouble with ReDem. I've downloaded my data from the USGS seamless site and have entered in the proper values into ReDem. When I got to create my tiles, this is the error message I get. I click continue and the tile creation progress monitor pops up, but doesn't do anything. Any clue as to what I may be doing wrong?

This might have to do with the recent changes at USGS: http://nationalmap.gov/viewer.html

I downloaded 1/9 arc sec data of Charleston and Berkeley counties in South Carolina. What would the changes do to effect this? Also, the files were only about 5mb each, is that how large they should be?

The files need to be in BIL format for ReDem to read.

Try this. http://www.mediafire.com/?0o8l82khd59r3ww It's a tutorial on how to do it without ReDEM. It worked for me before.

That method failed too. I can't get MICRODEM to open the files.

What happens when you try and open the files with microdem? Do you get an error message?

When I open it it just opens a windows with four green arrows and doesn't do anything. Should it have to load for a while or something? In task manager, it says it's not responding even when I haven't done anything to cause it to do that (ie clicking the window).

I don't know. I have had problems with redem in the past, but haven't heard of this one.

This was with Microdem, not ReDem. I was trying to use the tutorial you provided. *!sad!*

If Microdem and ReDem failed to open your .bil files, then they must be corrupt. Now you can only download them again and try it a second time.

That's the problem. I've downloaded them several times and they just don't work. I really don't understand why this process can't be straight forward. I really want to get this route started but these issues with the software are seriously making me lose interest. I've been trying for the better part of 2 months to get these things to work, they just don't.
