Odd smoothing effect in RW

Unread postby MG2 » Mon Jan 07, 2013 5:48 pm

Hi all,

First of all I must say that I really love Railworks and its features. Even the way it's complex, as it gives more detail and possibilities. So I'm building a subway route and am currently working on the first station, wich contains several support columns between the two tracks. I've modelled the first one and tested it in Railworks. And when I do this it renders with odd smoothed/shadowed faces what makes it look more like a trumpet. I've disabled all the shadowing and smoothing in 3ds max as well as in Railworks and still no good.

So this is the way it looks in 3ds max, wich is correct:

And the way it looks in Railworks, as if it was auto smoothed:

And the real example:

So how do I get the smoothing + shadows out of there to highlight the shape of the corners and edges again?

Greets,
Edward

If your model contains no smoothing, RW will automatically apply a single smoothing group to the object.
Cheers!
