Big Boy Sherman Hill Part 1 Scenario broken.

Unread postby hefy_jefy » Mon Dec 03, 2012 3:20 am

There is a problem with the Big Boy Sherman Hill Scenario Part 1. Two AI trains collide with each other, UP4774 and two helper locos parked at Hermosa Rock Track. I fixed the problem in the normal scenario by deleting the two locos. But its really annoying that you can't fix the career scenarios the same way. I tried in RW tools and succeeded only in breaking it completely now it won't load. Its a pity because the Sherman Hill / Big Boy / Challenger pack is one of the better efforts recently.

We must remember, folks, that for some people "broke" means "I can't get it to work". !*don-know!*

Not sure what the "verify files thingy" is but I cleared the cache and waited for today's update (I think - it just looked like a Steam Client update, nothing I saw related to TS2013). Anyway its still not gonna work. If I open the map view as soon as I launch the "Big Boy on Sherman Hill Part 1 CS" I can see that UP4774 is lurking on Hermosa Main 3 and the way the switches are set its gonna collide with two parked locos on the Hermosa Rock Track, which is exactly what happens about 1 hour into the scenario. I note that in the rankings only one person has ever completed this scenario I made a screenshot of the map:

CS means career scenario. I ran the regular one. Why not just one the standard scenario? It's only a tutorial and you don't really do much.

I've noticed that sometimes the Career and Standard versions don't always run the same with respect to AI. Don't know why. But crashing AI in one version doesn't usually mean crashing AI in the other.

OK well that was a great success. So I was wrong about the upgrade I can tell its been done because now both the brake pressure and boiler pressure readouts don't work anymore on the Big Boy or the Challenger, and yes I have done the verify, cache etc (twice). Looking around I am not the only one to have problems with the HUD after the last "upgrade". It only affects the Big Boy and Challenger though, other steam locos seem OK. Needless to say the situation with the career scenario hasn't changed its still impossible to complete. I was quite getting back into this - I like the challenge of trying to drive error free and on time, the brake pressure readout was very handy - you could tweak it to get exactly the right setting on self lap to give a consistent speed on the long downhill stretches. Never mind I'll come back in 6 months and see if anything has improved.
