No Main Menu

Since the instalation of TS 2013 last Thursday I have not been able to access the main menu, all I get is a black screen where the main menu should be. RSC knows about the problem and has offered suggestion. As of this writing those suggestions have not worked. Until this problem is rectified all scenario projects are on hold. I am hopeful that come Monday, they will have a solution for this. In the meantime, I will be found asteroid mining in New Eden on Eve Online.

When you get the black screen press the space bar twice.

I had 7 copies of RW2012 I used for developing and other things and have been updating them. One of them came up with the black screen and after 20 minutes of no HD activity I smacked the space bar twice in disgust and the game continued to load DUH!!! So I looked around a bit and all seemed in order and I figured I would exit and try it again. The second time trying to load hitting the space bar did nothing so I ALT TABed out of it and there was an SBH screen telling me I had duplicate file in the Railworks/Screens folder. I hit space and the window went away but there was a second one stating the same message.

Looking at the Railworks folder there is a Screens folder and in it is another folder called 2013. They appear to contain the same files. I figured the 2013 folder was the new stuff so I deleted the files from the Screens folder and left the 2013 folder alone.

The filename in the SBH error box was ScreenFrontEndDebrief.dlg. There was another file called ScreenFrontEndDebrief.dlg.ed in there and I deleted it too.

I do not know if this is your problem. Try ALT TAbing to see if there is an error window behind the black screen. If it is the filename above, then thats the problem. Don't just go deleting stuff. But then you can always get them back with a cache verify.

Thanks. Tired your sugggestions, and no joy. Still waiting on RSC for another suggestion. Oh well, back to Eve Online.
