Ok, build me a nice little 90 ton 2 truck narrow gauger and some disconnects, and we'll do it! The Dee sawmill had rails up into the woods as well.
For more than one reason, circa 1938 seems to be the period that would work best, the Columbia gorge highway would be done, the road to Odell and on to Parkdale would be finished. I'd need to obliterate the signs of I-84 and the newer highways, but it would be doable. There are a lot of buildings that will work, commercial and residential.
Locos would be by nature smaller, a 2-6-2 prairie, or the 2-8-0 consolidation from RW would work... we short line builders need some of the lighter steam engines to be modeled.
