One beta tester has reported that he was getting 5fps more (average was 20-25fps) with DD40X enhancements (400m headlight range) than with default headlights (50m). Looks like each rig has different behaviors.

Many people say that the current bottle neck of performance on game is the processor, not the graphic card.
In the freeware DD40X enhancement the cablight is casting shadows (as in default), so making fps drop a lot when turned on. In LEP the cablight won't cast shadows (and is even brighter inside the cab) so the fps won't drop.
BTW did you read the "Readme" of DD40X enhancement pack?

You don't need to turn TSX off. There are 3 enhancements versions:
a) Normal (210m headlight).
b) Extreme (400m headlight).
c) HFPS (Higher FPS) which don't cast shadows, so the perfomance (fps) is the same don't matter if headlight or cablight is turned on or off. It has a colateral weird effect though (lights cross objects and lit up beyond vehicles, for example) but it is an opportunity to play (or not to play) with TSX on.
One tip (among many), despite you have a supposedly good rig, is reduce in-game | Options | Graphic Detail | Shader Quality to medium or low (eventually reduce also Shadow Quality). This will make the game smoother even in the 10-14fps range. I have a dated rig: AMD Athlon Dual Core 64x2 5200+ 2.7Ghz and a Geforce 9500 GT 1MB; at least with a scenarios series I'm creating on Fort Kent (is a route neither heavy nor light to load and play) I'm getting 16-20fps with headlight off, and 12-16 with extreme headlight on, but playable.
Hope this helps...
