TYCO's UP Silver Streak

Postby wopflyer » Thu May 21, 2026 3:27 am

Hello everyone,

I would like to request a repaint of the "Train Simulator: C-424", available on steam into the fictional HO Scale "Silver Streak" that was available from TYCO during mine/our childhood's. A caboose would also be cool, but I don't know if there is one of the right model available to repaint.

I will include some pictures I found online. The TYCO did not have handrail's, so the repainter would have to use some creative licence and paint them to match the paint scheme.

Thank's,
David (wopflyer)

I got kind of intrigued by this but so far can't come close to a model for this caboose. Anyone know of something at least close to this?

The closest I have personally found is the "Michael Stephan’s freeware ATSF Ce-1 Class Caboose", which has the overall shape with a square cupola. But then there is the "GreatNortherner's N8 caboose", which has the correct shape for the cupola and roof, but the cupola is centered instead of off-set.

I tried looking online to find out the specific type of caboose the TYCO one was supposed to be, but the only info I could find was "40' steel caboose".

I know that TYCO took a lot of liberties with their models, due to the fact they were always trying to keep mold costs down. Remember they were not aiming at the hard core modeler, but young people that might be interested in the hobby.

I think that the caboose from the "Chessie System Retro Pack". See below:

I hope this helps, Stefan !*salute*!
