BETA Update in "Railroader"

Unread postby gtw5812 » Mon Feb 10, 2025 8:56 am

I know we've talked about this before, but just recently "Railroader" introduced a BETA update which brought a few new things to the game, including a SD-7 and my personal favorite..... a N&W M class Mastodon 4-8-0. So I took a break from "Electric" railroading and have been over here..."Kicking Cars", by the way, which you can do on that platform. Here are a few views! Just curious...does anyone mess around with this game? It is quite fun! Just ignore the "Southern" name on my locomotive...it's my railroad's name in the game! *!lol!* *!lol!*

I almost purchased it during the last sale. I will likely get during the next one. Thanks for the update.

Yes, I agree. I wish the locomotive operational physics was a little more real...it's not bad, but a combination of all these sims would be wild!

I just enabled the latest experimental branch the other week, and boy howdy what a difference. Besides the additional locos, the waypoint AI engineer makes switching out industries and yards much faster. Would be cool to have something like that in TSC for free roam scenarios.

I have been messing around in the "Beta" of Railroader and I must say....it is very challenging and fun. From "Kicking" cars, normal wear on equipment, passenger service and working semaphores, this game is quite immersive and addictive! From passenger service to demanding customers along the line, there is lots to do! I am curious if anyone here has been operating on this platform? The steam power is quite nice.
Here are a few screen shots of some of the "sights" along the way!

I go into the beta sandbox mode periodically. I've restarted the map once already and I'm close to doing another reset. As a single player, it gets to be too much trying to run the whole map with freight and passenger. My last restart was limited to half the map although I was running a daily passenger in each direction for the whole map along with a daily road freight to deliver interchange traffic. I thought I had turned off Andrews as an interchange, but apparently not. I'll make sure that is the case on my next restart. I think I'll also concentrate on freight only, especially with the diesels now available both in the default sim and as mods. I'll leave steam for locals and yard work.

The one wish I have with the sim is a way to pause time. Time can be advanced, but it can't be paused. When you're a single player and have lots of interchange and industries to service, including branches, it would be nice to "stop the clock".
