Here is a short video of the first scenario showing you the shadows of trees on the left with no leaves on. This is in the summertime. It doesn't happen to all trees. I have my graphics setting with everything set to high all the sliders fully set to the right and full antialiasing. I'm getting about 60fps. Don't take any notice of the score as this wasn't my final run of this scenario.

In this case, I'm not so sure if that would be considered rivet counting? but eh.

I'm not fully sure, but this might be a thing with the simulator itself. If you want to test more you could probably try these shaders on other routes with similar scenery.

Well, let's call it leaf counting, shall we? Sorry, bad pun! *!twisted!*

Thanks for reporting this, trev123. In your video, it looks like complete tree shadows are only present at a distance and then, as the camera gets close, the leaf shadows disappear and only the trunk/branches remain. Which is quite baffling, even more so as we cannot replicate this in our own games (using the Steam retail version of the route to make sure). To be honest, I have no idea what's going on here and what could have caused this.

Are you using any external graphics mods, ReShade or similar, by any chance? Also, in case you have them and want to check on other routes, those trees can also be found on B&A and Columbia Valley Pacific.

Cheers,
Michael

All joking aside I am not replicating this here. I tried several different views and shadows are all normal.

I'm not worried about it but just thought that I would point this out just in case there was an issue. I do use RW Enhancer 2 with default settings.

Thanks, we do appreciate the feedback even though it currently remains a mystery what's happening with the trees. If you don't mind doing another test, do the shadows return if you run the game without RW Enhancer (if it's possible to toggle it off that easily)?

Cheers,
Michael

I am not having any of the pop in and out of the tree leaves shadows. Also use AP Weather without any issues as well. I have tweaked some of the RWE settings and most of the game settings are set to max. Using RWE Pro version.

I uninstalled RW Enhancer 2 and all associated files for it from my AppData folder but still, the shadows without leaves remain. I shall see what RWE support has to say.

Have you tried running a Fall or Winter scenario to see what the shadows look like?

Thanks much for the update! The mystery deepens. It seems obvious from the video that something is treating the shadows (and seemingly only them) differently in your game than in mine, but I admit that I lack the technical understanding to do more than guess wildly what could be causing it (game setting? graphics card setting? Windows setting?) My one and only suspect so far has just been ruled out.

I just realised that after every change that I had made like uninstalling RWE 2, I have been running from a save of the game so the saved part that I'm running again wouldn't have changed. Am I correct on this? so I need to run the scenario from the beginning, not from a saved part.

Using TS Legacy/Default Shaders in RWE2 which disables RWE2 shaders I ran the scenario from the beginning still with the same issue.

Hi, thanks for the updates and sorry for the tardy response.

I don't think it matters if you run this from saved game or not, especially not for how things get rendered or the objects loaded.

It really is a most confusing thing and I must admit that I'm a complete loss about where even to search for an answer. None of us can replicate this, on a number of hardware/software configurations (and your system specs in your signature look rather good!) and in both the latest Steam version and an older (pre-core-update) version of the game.

Maybe somebody else has witnessed something similar on our (or other) routes -- please do let us know if you have!

Cheers,
Michael
