I followed it extensively when it was here in OZ in 88 /89 and eventually rode the showcase trip from Melbourne to Alice Springs, which took about 7 days. One thing that stands out is just how small British steam locomotives are, even in comparison to ours with the same wheel arrangement.

Might have a look for nostalgic reasons, just a pity the bottom has fallen out of the dollar (thanks US) but it does look the business in the BR livery with the lifters.

Thanks. Steam seems to hold its prices with the fluctuating dollar.
