GSkid wrote:Those that run it at max settings…. Give us an idea of what frame rates you are getting. Also are there many stutters as you travel? Similar to tile loading hiccups in TS. I’ll assume most will be at 1080p res, but the 1440p and 4K guys chime in too with your frame rates. How much of the route do you get in the demo? What’s the instal size?

Install is 6.36 GB, and you get one route with one player train, a two car EMU.

You get a 30 minutes section of Katowice-Warsaw mainline to learn to drive that EMU in the demo and one single scenario using the same stretch, train and station stops to try your skill.

There is a single AI freight train coming your way.

The feeling and atmosphere are obviously Polish, but the English translation is decent.

I found it difficult to manipulate the combined power/braking handle using the keyboard, and some of the in cab switches and levers with the mouse.

The train has working rear view mirrors that fold out when you open the doors, when in outside view at a platform, you can see the passengers entering and finding a seat, after first waiting for leaving passengers to clear the entrance. When the boarding passengers huddle up and don't make way, nobody leaves or enters the train ;-)

There are a few moving cars, but otherwise the virtual world is lifeless. High tension power lines have proper sag between the pylons. Plants, shrubs and trees pop, but there are many draw distance settings to try.

Not bad for starters and a free demo of the driving module, but obviously lots of work still need to be done.

No idea about frame rates, it played smooth enough, but the poor anti aliasing spoils the picture I think.

I set the presets to high at 1080P and FRs were 15-60. The outside views are good but from the cockpit the overheads looked choppy and in general the scenery is poor. Outside the cockpit it looks good. If I could just get by the driver vigilance applying brakes all the time I could put some miles on.

I thought it looked ok, but I just didn't have the ambition to fight with the learning curve so after 20 minutes, I deleted it. I have 3 train sims that don't get enough attention now. I don't need another, although good reviews after release may suck me in LOL.

Yah, most of these simulation kind of games on modern "universal" game engines are geared towards the player of levels, collection points and earning bonuses. Not towards the creative individual.

TS20xx, Trainz??, ETS/ATS, Farming Sim and others that allow world creation all run on "proprietary" game engines. Many of those are showing their age however, starting to lack in graphical features.

OpenRails is due to a major milestone release 1.4 in a few days but its route editor (not relying on MSTS anymore) is still in dvelopment.

So TS20xx still is the tool of creativity.

Schnauz did a proper review of the new game.

Are Schnauz' critical reviews not wanted on here anymore?

I think we're all quite capable of deciding for ourselves what reviews we consider "proper."

What on Earth are you talking about? I don't see any review on here?

I'm glad you asked because I thought it was my eyesight failing as I haven't seen anything either.

Has Schnauz been kindly asked to not post his reviews of US DLC on here anymore?

The executable in my demo is from 2019?

Which could mean, a very old build has been released as demo? Instead of a restricted current build with more features enabled? Don't know if that is a very sensible move, as first impressions of new games are very important !**conf**!

Also, still have found no way to get into the graphics config to get rid of the jaggies .... Apparently, Unity does without a standardised location of config files etc.

So will see how this game develops into a proper simulation or not, and which third parties might get onboard.
