Unknown error, please advise

Unread postby sykartracer » Sat Dec 05, 2020 10:52 pm

I'm rather new to the TS_Tools suite, but I followed the program's advice and extracted the route properties .xml and the scenario .xml files before I did anything. I've seen so many users of TS21 shout praise about TS_Tools and its predecessor, so I wanted to see if I could do a simple stock swap. But whenever I go to edit the scenario I wanted to, I get the bellow error:

Error: #339 Component ‘SuperPicture2.ocx’ or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
Module: frmShowRoutes
Procedure” Command10_Click

I have no idea what is happening. I did install the new full version 1.0.53, but have no idea how to install the 1.0.55 that's there. I don't see any .exe to overwrite .53 with .55, so I don't know what I' doing wrong. **!!bang!!** I'm pretty sure the answer's extremely simple and I'm missing it.

If someone could please advise me on what I'm doing wrong an how to fix it, I'd be extremely greatful

Go to the TS Tools menu, and open the "Options" tab. About half way down you'll see "Register SuperPicture2.ocx" - press that and hopefully it will solve the problem.

I solved that issue by running TS-Tools as an administrator.

Tried that and got some "RegSvr32" thing. 'The Module "C:\Rail Utilities\TS-Tools\SuperPicture2.ocx" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80004005' then tells me to search online for this code. I'll give harryadkins idea a try. May have more questions...I guess one would be how to I update to 1.0.55? I don't see any way to change that, it still opens to 1.0.53

I get emails regarding this error virtually on a weekly basis. The response I send is as follows:-

Did you install the original version of TS-Tools as administrator? If not then it is possible the various .ocx files the program uses were not registered/installed correctly.

The first paragraph of the ReadMe file in the installation package reads as follows:-
Installation
------------
1.Unzip these files anywhere and run Install_TS-Tools.exe, (If using Windows 7/8.1/10 - run the
Installer by right clicking on Install_TS-Tools.exe and selecting 'Run as administrator'
this will install the full program and install any .ocx files which are required in your
    System32 (or Syswow64) folder.
Once the installation is complete, Martin Wright's graphics utilities screen will appear,
click on OK to install them.

You should also ensure that TS-Tools is NOT installed in c:\Program Files or c:\Program Files (x86)

Please also note that TS-Tools should always be run as administrator, you can do this by right clicking on the desktop icon and selecting Properties/Compatability and ticking the box at the bottom which says 'Always run program as administrator'.

I did. I started running it as administrator and things were working. Although, now I can't get the enhancement packs from Searchlight to work (mostly the reason I wanted to swap stock, outside of fixing a few scenarios that don't load the correct stock)...Thanks for the advice Harry and Mike!
