Please someone show the new SD40 is full side and top views, thanks.
The earlier screenshots suggest to me the proportions aren't correct.

This is how a CRR SD40 should look, bell mounted high and all:

How are the brakes, advanced braking scrips used? I am reading there is something strange with train and independent brakes and gauges, suggesting a scripting error?

Looks like somebody at DTG copy-pasted the emitter section from a recent GP38-2 into this new GP38.

PS, here is the prototype CRR 2008 in 1974 for comparison. A plain GP38 with extended range dynamic brake blister and single m.u. receptacle at the left of the front anticlimber as easy spotting features.

Could be, the creator in charge thought that receptacle to be a ditch light?

The brakes are nothing short of a mess. Basically unusable.

It's sure a beautiful and fun route so let's not let the shortcomings of the rolling stock be a obstacle . Let it be a challenge for us to show DTG what it might have been.

If any of you are running into lag and or stuttering on the Clinch, the reason for that is your PC having to load a high amount of 3D objects near the tracks. Reason for this? A lot of the "shrubs and bushes" are actually the tops of 3D trees the team lowered underground. !**duh*!!

Eric I don't understand this. My computer isn't exactly a Cray and the route runs smooth as silk here.

The route for me runs and loads scenarios like greased lighting, small issues like the instrument lights on the f7 only worked the very first time i loaded it up. Havent noticed the brake issue as i refuse to drive the sd40 *!greengrin!*

But again, i dont have anything that loads as quick as this route, not even a freeware 7 mi shortline loads as quick. Its staggering

No criticism = no quality assurance !!*ok*!!

This route looks okay. Needs some serious upgrades. The stock is quite honestly trash (horrible attempt at a straight SD40). Reused F7. GP38 with invisible flashing ditchlights.

There's very little comment in this thread about the route itself. Isn't it more important than locos and their horns?

Chacal, I agree. Stock can (and will) be changed, the route is what matters. Nowadays very few (newbies only?) are going to buy a route just for its rolling stock and if the route isn’t up to it they won’t bother to change the stock ‘cos they won’t buy it. From my own attempts at route building I know how much time and effort goes into it. (I also appreciate how much works is involved in a new/upgraded locomotive/car model, I could not do this, I don’t know where to start).
In this thread the route is what matters.

There are tools to draw the track plan, a good first start could be to publish that, and point out the features, like mines, loading and unloading points, passenger platforms (?), anything that gives one the idea of what is included and what can be done with it, other than driving to and fro, TSW style, over the short stretch of mainline that is modeled. DTG should've done that, but rather relies on the oratories from their mouthpieces in various fora.

I stand by my plea to offer route and rolling stock separately. Purchasing the same old obsolete, coarse, broken, copy pasted models over and over again is a waste of money and space. Plus, puts the avid repainters outs of business.

So, I have finally been able to spend some time with this route and I must say I like what DTG has done here, in fact I would like to say "well done DTG". I especially like the scenery work along the route, being a route builder myself I know how much time goes into it. Scenery looks good even along the right of way. Its also nice to new assets that we route builders can add to our own route projects. Route runs smooth at least on my computer and I have everything maxed out in the graphic settings.

I also like that some of the rolling stock comes "weathered" and the included coal drag consist look like their real counterparts with mixed coal cars. Sounds are, well they are what they are.

So in short, I feel like this route actually is one of DTG "better" route releases in some time.

Back to hauling coal.

Could someone please elaborate on what the "new assets" are, specifically? ...scenery-wise that is.

Thanks. !!howdy!!
