Problem with Asset Editor - The parameter is incorrect!

Unread postby FrankD » Mon Jul 11, 2011 8:39 am

Hello, can you please help me I am getting always this error message when I try to use the Asset Editor = "Parameter is incorrect"

I am running Railworks Version 117.3a (.NET 2.0)

I have checked my file, the path...everything it looks correct.

I sent my files to a friend of mine that has Railworks same version and it works fine on his PC.

Anyone has any idea?

Thank you!

See if you can get hold of the 116 blueprint editor for now, there is a bug in the current one. Also a big thread here... somewhere or other.

I believe this is the thread you're talking about.

Thank you Gentlemen for your quick reply, appreciate that, unfortunately I have non one that can provide me the the previous version.

I spoke with a friend that has RW2 and he, for example, doesn't have a problem runnnig his editor on the current version.

If I could try the version 116 - Assett Editor and see if this fixes the issue it would be great!

Can anyone send it to me, if available, via Private Message?

Thank you.

Frank, what you will have to do is start Steam, go into Properties and uncheck the automatic updates (I don't remember exactly where it is, sorry) Uninstall Railworks, then reinstall it. It will still be RW2, but without the update that broke the editor. Now, I can't guarantee 100% and if someone else comes along with another suggestion, you can try that.

OK, here it is. Open Steam, go to Libraries, right click on the game, choose Properties. See the Updates tab? Click on that and in the drop down box pick to not update the game. See if that works.

Chris - I believe that idea will only work if he has the DVD version of the game. If he un-installs RW and does not have the DVD version, the re-install will have to come from Steam, meaning he'll still get the latest version.

Gentlemen, thank you so much for all the good advise and like Hawk said ......unfortunately....it will not work because to re-install it re-installs brand new with the latest version which we all know what it is.

What puzzles me is the really bad technical support from Railworks.

I have sent them an e-mail through their support e-mail address, found on their official website, on top I went into their Facebook profile and posted same problem with a nice message and I even posted the same message in Paul Jackson's , the CEO, Facebook wall and ....................nothing !!! !*hp*!

What type of Customer Service is this?

They sell their software but then you are on your own?

Now imagine that this sim is not as popular as other sims, let's say that slowly but surely is growing ok? So if they cannot handle or offer troubleshooting aid now can you imagine later on when this game becomes more and more popular?

I am really disappointed! !*not-ok*!

Do you have any ideas if there's anything new to fix this? Will there be a version 118?

Thanks,
FrankD

The last I heared ( here I think even ) was that there was a new version being tested internally - not heared anything since.

Send an email to RailWorks Support, (support at railsimulator dot com) attention Derek requesting a copy of the new exporter and he will email it to you.
(or so he has promised)
