BLE Butler Run 1 Crash

Unread postby KevinWS » Wed Feb 28, 2018 5:54 am

About halfway through the run, I am getting a crash constantly in the same after dropping of the 9 empties and the caboose. The happens when going through the next set of points. The crash generated a dump.

Has anyone else had this problem?

If this is the case and a common issue then I know to leave it alone for the time being.......

Take a screenshot of the exact crash message. Or write it down and transcribe it exactly. Its hard to troubleshoot without all of the information.

Thank you for the troubleshooting offer.

I was trying to ascertain if anyone else had the problem. But as you're the only reply I guess not.

If other people had the issue as well, I was going to leave it be, but I guess this now looks unique to me.

I'll run it again at weekend for the error message, and then do a complete reinstall. And then see if it happens again. A complete reinstall is not an issue - my system is clean - no mods etc.

Incidentally I have been running since TS2016 and all has been smooth.

It's unlikely you need to do a complete re-install. If this scenario appears to be the only thing messed up just go find it (RWTools) and delete it. Go to the library and verify your local files and it should re-aquire the thing.

Well, issue recorded as follows

1. Screen freezes.
2. Message 1 displayed.
3. Message 2 Displayed.

I have a dump file as well. I have tried to open this hut cannot - it would actually be pointless as I do not know what to look for anyway.

Can send this to anyone interested.....

Kevin, this error message is somewhat ubiquitous for Train Simulator, but often relates to the game pegging its amount of usable RAM.

How much RAM does your system have total?

To test my theory of the game running out of usable RAM, you would need to either run TS in windowed mode with your Windows Task Manager also open & visible and keep an eye on how much RAM the Train Simulator application is using when you get to this spot. The approximate value that the game crashes at is around 3300mb used, assuming your system has that much for TS to use in the first place.

Has this route crashed at this point on the map in any other scenarios?

I had to change my graphic settings from High to Medium for this route. You might try that.

Yes was just going to say that. I have a WS scenario which you have to do that for.

I don't have this route. But, why isn't this another case that requires frequent cache cleaning?
Intel i7-7900K (3.60 GHz) - ASUS Prime Z390A - 32 GB DDR4 RAM 2400 MHz
GPU EVGA GTX-1060 OC 6GB at 1920x1080, 144 Hz - Monitor ASUS VG-248QE
System Windows 11 Pro in WD SSD 500 GB. Games in Inland 1Tb M.2 NVMe PCIe

Boostedfridge, Harry, Trevor, Jalsina and Gtrtrodger - thanks for your input and comments - all appreciated. Sorry for the delay in responding, but I have been tied up with "life" for a bit!

------------------------------------------------

Boostedfridge - to answer your question - 4mb. The machine is extremely clean and "lean" (as I rely on it for work as well). I have however never had an issue with any other route, using "highish" graphics settings. Get a TS framerate of 15.

TS I always run windowed. I ran it as you suggested and monitored the memory use in Task Manager, as suggested. Strangely the memory reduced steadily just before the crash! I repeated this a second time, with the same result. I meant to take a screenshot but missed the boat. I'll do that again some other time. Need to record the amount of memory used as well for you.

I haven't run another scenario through the same point yet, so will also try this.

I'll post it when I have it. along with other info like the graphics settings I use.

--------------------------------------------

Harry/Trevor - I always run at medium. I yanked it down to Basic. Same crash!

--------------------------------------------

Jalsina - cleaned the caches before I started.

-------------------------------------------

Gtrtrodger - I read that thread - below Medium I was crashing. I also turned the distance settings right back.

------------------------------------------

While I'll work further on all the above suggestions (as I mentioned here), I think it is something else as the crash is always at the exact same point - just as the last wagon clears the last set of points - no sooner or later!

Well, I ran other scenarios and some would not even start. All failed at some stage.

I have over dozen routes, old and new, and have never had an issue.

Anyway, I am no longer going to waste time on it and have taken it off. Too late for a refund as I exceeded 2 hours trouble shooting. Pity.

Guys, thanks for the offers of help. Appreciated!
