Peninsula Corridor - San Francisco to Gilroy

I've noticed that some of the speed limits don't change at the signs or the signs don't show in the HUD. Is there a way to correct this in the route editor? The first scenario when running the gallery car you pass a green maximum authorized speed sign of 79mph but the speed doesn't increase until you are way past the sign. Also when running one of the freight scenarios you pass a 40mph speed sign that doesn't show in the HUD and doesn't change the allowable speed till well past that sign. !*don-know!*

This happens in most routes in TS2018, not just this one.

This may be due to the way the signs have been set in RouteProperties.xml. If near the end of that file there is a line of code like this:
Code: Select all
<HasSpeedsigns d:type="bool">1</HasSpeedsigns>
It means the HUD is reading only signs.
If, by the other side, the line reads:
Code: Select all
<HasSpeedsigns d:type="bool">0</HasSpeedsigns>
it will read the speed set by the track, the speed signs plus the signals speed restrictions.

These speed limits (restrictions) set by signals (some found in Sherman Hill), will never be read by the HUD (a goof in the game). This kind of limits are not exactly placed where the signal is, but where the signal sensor has been placed. To play with those, you can place invisible or buried speed signs or make a speed gap in the track (when using the value 0 instruction), which will appear in the HUD.

The signs may also be bugged. They are there showing a speed change but they don´t change anything. They are just visible signs that do nothing (because of a bug).

I think this is like the crashing engineers of Amtrak. You need to learn the route so you can compensate for this. !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*!

Isn’t this just the fact that you can’t speed up until your whole train has passed the sign and entered the new speed zone? Or are you talking about entering a slower speed zone?

When moving into a slower zone, the limit should change in the hud immediately. When entering a faster zone, the limit should change when the last car or helper engine passes the sign.

Both. My whole train passes the increase speed sign but nothing changes till much farther down the tracks and the opposite for the decrease speed sign. Instead of when my head end hits the slower speed sign the speed won't change till much further from the sign.

Time for a file verification? Does this happen on other routes as well? It's also possible to open the Steam site, click on Train Simulator, find Peninsular Corridor in your DLC list, click the check-marked box to unload the route and then click it again to reload the route, which will take far less time than a file verification.

This route has been this way from day 1. It's the only route that I have run into this with. I have done what you've suggested twice to see if there was an update. I've noticed that there is a couple buried speed signs a little after the original sign. I compared the arrows on the track from the sign to other routes and noticed they are closer together than others. I'll try to move them a little and see if it changes anything. To see exactly what I'm talking about the first scenario has you leaving Gilroy in the morning. You'll pass a green 79mph sign and nothing happens. The speed will eventually change to 79mph. I hit the world editor and buried under the terrain is a green 79mph sign and above the terrain is in the other direction is a yellow decrease speed sign with 79mph on it.
