If he distributes the route without any assets included in his distribution file, how is that different from distributing a loco or car reskin without the geo file?

wlenz781 - If you could get a hold of Rich somehow and get his blessing to distribute his modified route without assets, that would a good idea. Folks wanting to run your version of the route would need the assets, and it would probably generate more sales of the original route just to get the route assets. Seems like a win-win all around.

cnwfan has a point, if I don't distribute any assets folder do I still need permission to distribute? I see other route builders that have a list of required DLCs. So far, I have Ft. Smith to Heavener, Peninsula Corridor, and Soldier Summit. Thinking about adding RCAP to get some US businesses as scenery. Also looking for a gravel loader for the Van Buren quarry. I also want to extend the Ft. Smith RR to Ft. Chaffee and all the industries in Ft. Smith and Van Buren.

It is not a question of assets. The route itself is Rich Garber's property.

But you shouldn't bother about this. Do this work for learning, and don't distribute it.
When you're feeling competent enough, start working on your own route.
You'll get a lot more satisfaction, and it will be much more interesting for the community.

I would completely recreate it from scratch as there are some terrain issues that I don't like. Unfortunately, ReDEM is no longer available for me to use the 1/3 ARC detailed terrain. This would also allow me to incorporate the AM (Arkansas & Missouri Railroad) from Van Buren to the BNSF line in Missouri going through the Ozark Mountains. I would also do the KCS line from Heavener, OK in both directions north and south.

If this is based off of a real life route and you do a layout of it I don't see how you can be said that the thing is the property of Mr. Garber. Name it something else and say it was inspired by Rich's route so you are giving him credit. If you don't use any of his assets no harm and no foul.

Talk to Boosted Fridge about the terrain issue. He's our resident expert and can fix you up on that front.

I have downloaded a large area of 1-arc meter terrain data. I have also downloaded enough to extend the route if I decide to. I have started all track mapping over. I have completely done both Van Buren yards, as they appear on Google maps. I recreated the short portions of the UP and Arkansas and Missouri mainlines. The branchline near the main Van Buren yard has been extended to cover the industrial areas that are east of the railyard. Added the passenger station on the A&M line in Van Buren. Made it south of the river approaching the Fort Smith yards. Progress is going slow, my laptop does not have the horsepower, and when I get back home I will be under a full class load.

I have extended the Ft. Smith railroad line from the KCS junction all the way down to the Planter's nut processing plant. I have included all the local yards for dropping supplies, as well as the industries in the area. I have made it just south of the old Whirlpool factory and am currently looking for some wooden bridges to cross creeks and marshes. If anyone knows where I can find these, I would greatly appreciate it.

This line is a remnant of the old Frisco line, that KCS barely maintains for the once daily Ft. Smith Dodger that makes deliveries between the mainline in Heavener and industries in Ft. Smith. Since this is a low traffic line, I am preserving the current speed limit that KCS has of 25mph for 4-axle engines. This means that scenarios are best with a set of GP38-2 units for all transits across this line.

There are some freeware wooden trestle lofts available on GreatNortherner's website: http://www.golden-age-rails.com/rwscenry.html

I am looking for volunteers that will be willing to work on some of the scenery for this route. I have all the yards in Van Buren and Fort Smith laid accurately from Google maps. I have also got the KCS branch as far south as the tunnel.

I will be traveling overseas for the next month, and would love to have someone that can work on the signals, roads, and all the other scenery objects. Since I will be taking my laptop, I will not have access to a computer that has TS2018 installed.

The route currently uses the following assets:
Soldier Summit (all track, signals)
Peninsula Corridor (end of track)
Feather River (ground)
RCAP
GreatNorthern (wood bridges)

I have joined the Ft. Smith branch to the KCS mainline in Poteau, OK. Still have to connect it to the railyard in Heavener. Once I can get that done, I will have successfully replaced all the tracks for the Fort Smith to Heaver route.
