What railcars are we still missing?

Unread postby BoostedFridge » Sun Apr 02, 2017 6:57 pm

With TSW now out, I'm reflecting on the 10 year run that Railsimulator/Railworks/TSX has had. All things considered we now have pretty good selection of rolling stock available to us in game.

I'm curious to see what freight cars that you, the community, feel we are still missing in Train Simulator?

Howdy,

Hard to believe its been 10 years!
Can't think of anything off the top of my head, except very specific cars like spent fuel rod/nuclear waste cars. *!greengrin!*

The one thing I always thought was funny, was that DTG, or any of these BIG time developers never made any EMD E-units.
Although Britkits was nice enough to share his with us. for which I am certainly grateful! !*salute*!

Take care!

I feel like there's a lot that could still be made! Pick your favorite railroad and look through a roster of their rolling stock. Tons of variations out there past and present to still be done.

Huh! Didn't know other railroads used double stack trash cars.

A skin of the stevens pass double stacks into this would be awesome:

Good TOFC flatcars with foldable pedestals, hinged container sockets for COFC service,
Open 2 and 3 deck auto carriers,
fishbelly gondolas and flatcars,
Depressed center flatcar with 6 wheel Buckeye trucks,
Shorty tank cars, hazmat tank cars with double shelf couplers,
Billboard boxcars with roof walks, more modern boxcars without roofwalks but with cushioned underframes,
50 ton 2 bay hoppers with peaked ends,
70 ton 3 bay hoppers with peaked ends,
100 ton 4 and 5 bay hoppers,
mech reefers with sound,
stock cars, 80 ft "pig's palace" car.

ATSF, SP and UP standard caboose !!!

A 100% correct Oil Cans or Tank Train.

In good quality - not MSTS conversions:
Heavyweight passenger cars on 4 and 6 wheel trucks,
General service steamlined passenger cars.

Edwin,
There are several nice passenger car models out there. I know you want brake hoses that couple and vestibule doors that open and close and children running up and down the aisles in the coaches but with all your grumbling about near everything have you ever considered learning how to model so you can show us what true excellence is?

I agree with buzz, Not only moddling a car takes time, the scripting part is another large part, animating the little details is also another thing. you also have to take in account that we only have like 7 Moddlers On RWA.
