This has do with editing your coupler bin files. The below lines and numbers are what I have used to fix this problem. I seemed to loose these settings every time the program updated years ago to a new version. I setup a MOD folder and aliased all my motive power and rolling stock so I could retain these settings rather than relying on edited default values which could change with a program update.

Buzz,

Would you be willing to share your mods? I tried to alias the sounds to the RF-16 like you but something messed up. My skillset is stronger in the paint shop than the back shop.

No problem Harry. Just working on getting the cab view to look down the long hood. As soon as I get that done I'll shoot you a copy. I did finally figure out how to get rid of the UP paint from inside the cab and have the headout view in the right spot.

Maybe your payment can be to make us a few more numbers if this thing works OK.

First off, loving the new engine, it really sounds like it's having to work.

I can confirm seeing the proper SP paint in all views and the head out views are in the proper place.

The cab view was still a bit wonky as you mentioned, when entering the cab for the first time I am looking at the long hood but on the wrong side, no big deal. The weird thing is the facing of the cab and loco, if for example the long hood is facing North as viewed in the world when I enter the cab I see the long hood in front of me but I am facing South. This is also no big deal to me personally as I often run using an external view w/HUD and the head out view is correct in relation to the world and loco.

I'm not sure if you made any adjustments to the couplers yet, the short hood coupler reaches out to engage and the long hood coupler clips before engaging.

Overall your fixes are great and much appreciated.

Side note regarding the GP18, it and the AS616 will still not couple short to short and when coupled long to long they caused a derailment (cars flying off the track) without touching, from a distance of well over 100ft. Not tested with any other locos but if anyone has both of these I'd advise against using them together.

I would like to send my concerns and areas to fix to the creator since this model is payware. However, my Portuguese is not really up to date. Right now the model is barely freeware to be beta tested.

Harry

I would send it to him in English and see if he responds either because he understands or finds someone to translate for him.

Gentlemen,

I know Guto slightly. I'm emailing him right now (in English) with a brief description of the fault, which is also evident on the green (Socorobana?) metric gauge version, referring him to this excellent thread.

Kind regards,

John M

EDIT PS Appended please find the text of the email I sent. I hope it covers the key points. JM

[text as sent]

Good morning, Guto!

I see that you now have two more versions of the attractive Baldwin A616 on your website.

I’m intending to buy them all – naturally – but I wondered whether the two problems with the views from the cab had been fixed yet. They were described on the Railworks America forum; the thread is at viewtopic.php?f=13&t=18222&start=15.

Problem 1: the ‘driver’s eye’ views are 180 degrees rotated; when looking over the long hood, you see the short hood, and when looking over the short hood, you see the long hood. The same reversal occurs when using the ‘head out’ views on either side of the cab.

Problem 2: the wrong livery is seen on the sides of the loco, when using the ‘driver’s eye’ views – it’s a UP livery. However, this does NOT happen when using the ‘head out’ views – the correct livery is seen.

Buzz456 is developing a fix or fixes, as you will see from the thread, but it would seem better to repair the original models – what do you think?

Problem 3? Our North American friends also report problems with couplers in some situations; I have not encountered these.

Kind regards,

John

That sounds pretty much it. The head out camera was positioned on the wrong end of the loco also. It's pointed in the right direction however so that was easy to fix.. Further complicating the whole thing is that he uses the same alias to the GP9 for all the different paint jobs so right now you're going to be looking at the same livery from the cab view no matter if you have several different paints.

Buzz,

I have received a very positive reply from Guto, but it takes me well out of my technical depth...

So I've PM'd the reply to you to continue the conversation. Please? In British Rugby we call this a 'hospital pass'... *!!wink!!*

I'm sure that between you and Guto you can fix all the flaws - if you would be so very kind... *!embar*!

It's very clear from Guto's email that he will send out the fixes, as they are developed, to all customers.

Kind regards, and my thanks in nervous anticipation...

I discovered one other problem. This is on me not him. If you applied my mods when you were in notch 7 and 8 there was no engine sound. That's because my mod uses a prime mover that only goes up to 625 RPM so the game which is using the GP9 simulation when it wound up to 900 RPM there is no such thing in the sound file hence no sounds. I have that fixed. Will send out updates shortly to beta testers.
