Missing Scenario.

Unread postby Ericmopar » Wed Nov 02, 2016 2:56 am

I had a scenario for my Donner Pass Redux route suddenly disappear into the ether. (Donner Pass Redux:Westbound Oil Cans)
It vanished from the scenario folder and also from the Steam Workshop of all places. !**conf**!
I didn't delete it. It disappeared while I've been recuperating from a minor surgery last week. I haven't even been in the editor for at least two weeks.
I've replaced it from a backup, but the whole thing sucks, because it was one of my first 5 star uploads at Steam. It takes a lot to get 5 stars over there. *!sad!*
Has anybody else had something similar happen?
Eric.

If you remember the app number, maybe SteamDB still has an event log.

I don't know what the app number is.
Is this Steam database something I can look up myself?

Ahh. Thanks.
That site always makes me wonder. They say they aren't affiliated with Valve, but they have all this personal info about your Steam stuff.

There is a Steam API, with lots of public services any application can query.

I tried contacting technical support, but I got some strange answers.
One of which said something about, even if the route was created with nothing but DTG assets a file verification wouldn't fix it...
I never said or implied that I tried file verification in my emails. !**conf**!
I'm not sure how the workshop works. I'm trying to figure out if the file was actually deleted from Content/Routes folders in my Railworks install and that removed the scenario from my Workshop, or if something else happened that removed them both.
I guess I thought that the steam routes and scenarios would always be a kind of backup, but apparently not.

Thanks for trying to help Chacal.

If by technical support you mean Dovetail Games Support, their replies to my "tickets" have fallen into two categories: helpful / informative or boilerplate balderdash. As for Workshop "help" from Steam, remember that it is run by Steam and that they have to deal with numerous gaming and simulation products; given that, my experience has been that they know little and tell even less. For example, after trying to post one particular scenario for months and receiving a notification that the scenario was being uploaded followed quickly by a failure notice, I sent Steam Support a very specific question, to which they responded with boilerplate balderdash stating that they "could not" offer creative help, etc. Translation: we haven't a clue so you're on your own.
