Need some help with route building.

Unread postby CASO » Thu May 26, 2011 4:42 pm

Hi all, I am attempting to do a shortline route, whose length is 20 miles, and I would like some help with building yards. I know there is a yard tutorial for yard ladders, but that doesn't help me with this particular yard that I have included in this screen shot. Any help would on help on how to construct this sort of yard would be greatly appreciated.

If your gonna build a prototype route I would suggest getting RWDecal (http://www.rwdecal.co.uk/) to aid in the trackwork/building placement. It allows you to make decals from Google Earth and import them into Railworks, then all you have to do is follow the tracks on the decal.

But anyhoo, it looks like you will have to modify the yard ladder tutorial a bit.. The west end of the yard looks like it's a simple Y turnout followed by yard ladders on both sides. The East end is a bit more complicated (I took the coordinates from your screenshot): http://i.imgur.com/rItpQ.jpg
But it can be done in Railworks without to much of a problem...
