I was amazed to see how many of my repaints were represented. I like it when folks appreciate my work.

Which reminds me, I used the excellent "Chicago, Burlington & Quincy (CB&Q, CBQ) F7 " repaints by Michael (GreatNortherner) Stephan, available here in the RWA library.
This livery is significant to me because it was the first train I saw in my life. When I was very young I found a mysterious box in my father's basement closet, inside were several small boxes with the name "Athearn". I opened one and there was the Athearn HO-scale CB&Q F7. Other boxes contained different passenger and freight cars, even some metal ones, some tracks, an old transformer. This dated from the fifties, the F7 had a rubber-band drive. My father helped me set it up and I was hooked. Then one day we drove to the train station and I saw a CN FP9A up close, and I was even more hooked.
He passed away years ago, and my HO trains were all stolen, but on his birthday I like to take out this engine for a ride in the simulator. The screenshot was such an occasion.

The Competition is really stepping up! I couldn't agree more.

I have been wondering how much time it takes for you guys to get the photos you want. For me, mine took about an hour to set up.

To be honest, my first two shots entered were from previous runs that I really felt had a chance. This one I actually had to put together and setup just for this contest. Seems I do better when I'm just running a free roam and happen upon a cool shot. *!greengrin!* *!greengrin!* *!greengrin!*

My screenshot was taken over a year ago on my old laptop, I just bought a new gaming PC and am getting back into Train Simulator so I thought I'd give it a shot. *!!wink!!*

My shot dates from a couple of years ago.
I wasn't satisfied with the framing, so I spent hours trying to recreate it, but couldn't find the right combination of weather / time of day / orientation to recreate the same atmosphere, so in frustration I submitted the old one.

This one was tough for me as most of my stock is pretty modern so i dug out an old shot i'd taken.
My shot that I won with from the last comp took about an hour or so to get the right location and light etc.
I think one of the harder things now is not just getting the right shot but also doing something that is original.
As soon as i'd posted mine I counted up the number of shots i thought were worthy of winning then counted the amount of prizes. Then I thought b****r !!*ok*!!

To all the winners.

Sorry about the delay but when I got home from work yesterday I had something happen I was not expecting. My 87 year old neighbor came hobbling up to my car, he was waiting for me, and asked me to take him to the emergency room. 10 hours later, he was checked in and I was able to go home and to bed. Had to eat crappy hospital food too...

Anyway, all prizes have been delivered this morning. Now I have to look at the uploads. A site owners job is never done, ar ar ar. *!twisted!*

Hmmm, there are no new uploads this week. So I get a break.
