I just ended a QD scenario starting in Colfax to Emmigrant Gap using a Dash 9 consist with Warbonnets and empty gondolas.
Donner Pass definitively looks much better. I did not find any issue related with Eric´s work.

However the changes in track grades and the ghost red lights were still there. I found (and ate) two of them in Gold Run and in Alta East. I found another somewhere but asked for permission. What is weird is that at the end the briefing did not show any of the two operational errors (SPADs).
I took about 15 pics which are uploaded in Steam. Here are three of them:

Thank you, Eric. Great job. I look forward to the 3rd phase. !*YAAA*!
!*cheers*!

I looked at those red signals but for the life of me, I can't figure out why they are like that.
I've also moved tunnel portals and replaced several tunnel decals, but the same tunnels have the same blocked entrances.

I am aware of it. I read one of your posts.
Sometime in the future when there is a work underway to fix Donner track grades, maybe it will be possible to find the causes of those signals.
Anyway, I have marked two of those lights in the message above if there is someone else that want to look at it. What is really weird is that the scenario didn´t tell me that I had two Spads as if the lights, while looking red, were in fact green for the "system". So far I dare with engine mods, but It could be something new to learn and try myself to take a look at it.
For the time being, congratulations for a job well done. !!howdy!!

I hope people realize that changing track grades will essentially require a new route. There would be huge changes in the relationship between the terrain and track. It would be easier to start from scratch and make a new Donner Pass at that point.
Messing with the track will also break scenarios.

The problem with doing a fully new route is that it goes against all the workshop scenario stuff.
In my opinion, it should require to fix only some of the sudden (and aggressive) changes in grades and without adding or deleting any tracks, junctions, sidings, platforms, etc..
And taking a look to the signals system.

Changing the track gradient would mean that every Donner Scenario would no longer function. I don't feel that it's worth the trade off.

Does the signal problem exist on the default donner pass?

Yes. It usually means that one or more of the track sensors were placed in the wrong direction, but I didn't find that there.

Finally got a chance to run the Phase 2 portion.
Very nice work. It is a real pleasure to run this route and makes a it a much better home for my SP stuff.
Highly recommended add on!!!
Thanks Eric......

They wont work right if the sensor (yellow arrow gizmo) is on a break between 2 sections of track. You have to make sure the arrow gizmo is not on the yellow line seperating track sections. I do not beleive grades will effect existing scenarios. And changing track will only break them if a consist in the scenario is on one of the places where you broke the track. At least that has been my experience when writing scenarios before my route was done.

Yea! I think I have the signals at Alta and Gold Run fixed.
I also mowed down a lot of "notches" along the route between Alta and Blue Canyon. There are more vertigo inducing views along the route now. True side hill mountain railroading. *!greengrin!*
